Kate, everyone is different...I was having terrible night sweats before i even left the hospital.

i was not menopausal at time of surgery.

so they put you right on hormone replacement in the hospital??

I also was not menopausal at the time of surgery and I am reading everyone's posts and this is worrying me. My doctor said I could feel symptoms as early as 2 weeks after surgery, ( I had the complete hysterectomy on July 16, 2007) but she wants me to wait 6 weeks so the endometriosis has time to shrivel up and die, she says.

Kate,
As you had your hyst due to endo, it is not unusual to wait to start hrt. Estrogen feeds endo, which is why your doctor probably wants to wait to have you start hrt. By waiting, the hope is that any minute amounts of endo left will starve themselves and fade away.

Everyone is different as to when symptoms appear. I was put on hrt immediately after surgery and still had symptoms from day one.

thank you SOO much for answering me, Kim. My doctor never told me I could bleed after surgery, and also never explained the estrogen. I feel like a babe in the woods with this, but I do not regret the hysterectomy, due to the HEAVY bleeding.

Thank you again!

Kim? Just one more question. Do you know if there are women out there who don't need estrogen? What are the worries if you don't get estrogen?

Kate,
Everyone is different, some women do fine without estrogen, others don't. My symptoms were very severe in the beginning and it took me quite some time to find balance so I have not gone without yet. We have much info here for you, along with your doctor, to make your decision. There are some good articles at www.hormonejungle.com and our Resources section has more info https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/view_anr.htm

We also have a forum for those who can't or choose not to use hrt https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/forumdisplay.php?f=34 and we have a forum just for those who are dealing with endometriosis https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/forumdisplay.php?f=236

thank you again, Kim.

I hope I am forever through with my endometriosis, as I suffered far way too long with the disease.
