Feeling well, really wearing myself out quickly as I still want to do everything, once I was cleared to drive I was off and running. Target is a huge store, I thought the walking would be good, forgot I had to drive home as well, had my Mom with me so all is well. Over committing myself as usual and paying for it with more heavy spotting, fresh red, worries me, so I'm now resting.

We have dinner company coming tonight and as much as my DH and my Mom are helping I will still need to be involved, just can't sit by and let someone do for me. So, other then not having all the energy I want, I feel great. I am happy to read how everyone else is doing and sad for some who are having a tougher time.

Knowing that you won't feel bad forever is the hope that will get us healed. Have a great day everyone.

Constipation

Is anyone out there having a problem with constipation? Mine is off and on, but VERY uncomfortable when on. I am taking my stool softeners, eating applesause, and taking my fibercon for my IBS. Any suggestions? I also walk around my house several times a day. I cannot "push" due to major reconstructive surgery in addition to the hysterectomy. HELP!!

To: Bkjjrd6 - yes, I'm with you. I have my two week post op tomorrow but that is the one thing that is just killing me. I have been taking fibor, stool softners, drinking prune juice, applesauce everything and it is just horrible. The pain is so bad sometimes I can't even stand up straight and it is not from the incision. Yikes, I'm going to ask my Dr. about it tomorrow because I would have thought it would be better by now. I'll let you know tomorrow if she gives me any suggestions. Good Luck with that.

To zelda bean---yes, please tell me what your dr. says! I have even tried laxatives; to no avail! Thank you for your 'help' in this! I will be looking forward to your suggestions!

constipation

zelda bean , bkjjrd6

I am having the same problems. My dr suggested a 1 1/2 tsp of concentrated Phillips Milk of Magnesia ( i found strawberry flavor) every night, not as a laxative or stimulate BUT as a vitamin Magnesium which our bowel needs to work under these circumstances. I know who would of thunk it!!!!!

I have been on Phillips since 2 days after surgery, not long enough to enough to feel the difference, but with the help of prunes, cherries, and peaches (I am not going every day) but it helps when i do go.

I am still sore on the inside and find I suffer when I try to push myself, I want so much to . Just can't wait until I am my old self again. Thank God for my supportive husband who has become quite the cook and houseman.lol Luck to all, I check this site about 4 times a day and it has made me feel normal !!!!!!

constipation pain pills and tiredness

Yeah. Constipation. I've had it. You know the pain pills do that to you? Hey, by the way, I don't read of anyone discussing pain management much. All you gals talking of "mowing the grass"(!), having dinner parties and stuff. Well, I know, I always do so much more than I should, but hey the gal that was mowing her grass!...You need to cut it out! (no pun intended) You're gonna hurt yourself! I know, I do a little more than I should and then later I realize I shouldn't have done some of that stuff. We need to understand that our bodies have been through a major overhaul. Plumbing, wiring, fuel...it's all been moved, taken out, our hormones are out of wack. Our surgeons would NOT be happy knowing that their meticulous work is being challenged with mowing the grass. I'm sorry, girl, don't mean to keep bringing that up, but that's just insane! Take it easy. You deserve to let yourself heal. Unless you live somewhere that you'll be getting a ticket for high grass...(like a military base...even then, pay somebody else to do it) Anyway, the constipation...it is painful. I had it before the surgery, so the colace after surgery isn't helping much. I personally use a Fleets glycerin suppository...ask your doctor...Mine didn't prescribe that because he gave me colace. I have to use both sometimes. Only one every once in awhile...but it works for me. You can buy them at the drugstore. You ladies take care of yourself...and again, ask your doctor about the Fleets. Some of you have been in much worse shape than me. I had a TVHSO. The fact that I didn't have any external incision makes it easier for me. The fact that I suffered for so many years prior to this makes it easier as well. I had more pain with my menstrual cycle than I've had with recovering from the surgery. But, anyhow, I did use the Percocet...I had 25 pills...could take them every 4 hours. Supposed to last 15 days...you do the math! I stretched them out over 8 days, but then started strictly Motrin. I do take that every 8 hours so that it works properly. Healing well, feeling good...you ladies take care.

Hello all,
I went off the stool softeners, started feeling like I was in Mexico!!!!!
I have found that oatmeal in the morning, some corn on the cob ( in season here and oh so good and sweet) in the afternoon and raisen bran cereal at night is working great for me, takes time to go I must sit for a while and read and try not to hurry, but it will happen. I hope you find what works for you, It will happen, and we will all get back to normal, we must have patience. And no cutting grass....
Hope all have a good night and a good nights sleep.

Hmm, diarrhea...you should call your doctor if it persists. I don't think that's part of the surgery, but maybe a "bug". Drink lots of fluids...popsicles...water...broth...Make sure you stay hydrated.

Feeling really tired tonight, done way too much again today, typical I'm getting loads of requests for things at work when I am not supposed to be doing anything. It's my own business so they have to be done unfortunately. I am also having trouble going to the loo. I have tried everything, hot and cold prune juice, loads of fibre, strong tea, laxatives but nothing seems to work. I suppose it will eventually or else I will simply blow up, it's really uncomfortable though.
