Hi everyone...
Allbeadz...I hope your day went well today and you took it slow.
Tracyd...I'm glad that you feel better after talking with your doctor and that you don't have to have home health there so much and repacking your incision...
Zelda Bean...you are so lucky to have a supportive family...and you're doing all the right things by taking it easy and letting your body heal...smart girl.

Now, for my update with my Dr. appt today. My appt was at 9:15, I got there at 8:30, saw dr. by 8:50. I think I managed to be one of his first so I kept him a little long...til 9:10.

So for the good news...I'm released for sex and other normal things.
About the bladder and cathing he says "I want to see you in four more weeks, you just need to give it time." I say "I've given it six weeks, isn't that long enough" he says "you're doing everything right, the only thing your not doing is being patient" I say "I've been patient for six weeks. One or two weeks I can understand but six weeks?" "Well in my 30+ years of doing this I've only had one patient that couldn't pee again after their surgery and I offered to undo her surgery and she declined, but I sent her to Indianapolis and other doctors. Dr. ---- had a patient go five weeks" I said "but you told me once that you've never had any of your patients have to cath themselves for more than 3 or so weeks, I've been 6" he says "you just need to give it time" I said isn't there anything that I can do besides wait and see" he says "I'll give you a script for ----[i cant remember the name]"...I said "if I come back I come back in 4 weeks and I'm not any better will I get a referral to a urologist" he says "yeah, if you're still doing this in four weeks I'll send you to a uro." I then picked his brain for who he might refer...then left. At one point I told him that I just wasn't happy with what he was telling me...

Since I left I've spoke to 2 nurses and looked in to making an appt with another ob/gyn then called the urologist's office and made an appt for next Friday. I picked up the medicine that he prescribed, so I'll take it until my appt with the uro. I still have to contact today's dr. to have my pertinant medical records faxed to the uro...I'll face them then if they ask any questions. What's really funny is if I'm advocating for someone else I'll go to the ends of the earth to get them the care that they need, I'll jump through hoops and won't give a second thought to rumpling some feathers, but when it comes to me I'm more chicken.

So, that's my story. I'm still a whimp, but I did get a uro appt. on my own.

Now I'm off to do the dishes.
Take care everyone and rest easy tonight.

Good for you. We all have to be our own advocates. Nobody is a better advocate then ourselves. That's how medicine today works. Good job. You just never know. Maybe you do need to wait, maybe you don't! I wouldn't wait either if it were me! There is no way I could or would cath myself that long. You are being patient!

I am so-o-o-o proud of you. I hope the medicine will help until you can get to the uro. I don't think I like your dr. and I don't even know who he is. I think drs. should not be afraid to just refer and not think they know everything. Now just be patient until next Friday. I know that will be hard and all of us will be thinking of you.

Zelda Bean,
So glad you are taking it easy and caring for yourself. Keep it up!

today was 6 wk check

Well I made, it thru my 6 wk check today, the MD was so gentle I really didn't feel uncomfortable. I still have stitches, he removed all the loose one's, he said I was not completely healed and wants to see me again in 4 weeks.

I got the ok for GENTLE sex only and he wants me to douche with a vinegar & water after to keep bacteria level down.?????????????????

I still can't do my pilates, only exercise the upper body while walking, no bike riding, swimming without real kicking, still no driving my 5 speed Miata.

As far as work, he wasn't happy with me going back without his okay. He said he meant 6 weeks for a reason, as he would have advised going back to slowly a couple hours a day. Next week when I return I might cut 2-3 hours off my day for a week or two.

So I didn't think another 4 wk check I thought 6 and I am done. Not a big deal.

I still am sore with pins and needles and tired which is a new feeling. MD said now using muscles I haven't for 6 weeks.

Jacko888 have fun traveling and with daughter, I wish I had taken the time to see my daughter in NV and now back to work, can't ask for time off when I just took 6 weeks.

Lil ol glad your goin to the URO if you wait another 4 weeks , if something can de done now, let's move toward that. hang in there, your really holding up great, better than I would have

Tracyd continue to rest so glad you making progress, glad the holdup was a birthday party, we were all concerned about you.

And to the others continue to feel better, we are woman hear us ROAR...

LAVH removed everything

I just thought about the fact my Dr. didn't do an internal exam on Tues which was 6 weeks. Didn't even think to ask about that. I think you should slow it down and cut the hours back, you don't want to start going backwards. Take care of yourself and don't do too much to soon.

You know I have wondered myself why the Dr does not do an internal exam. Of course my last checkup was after 2 weeks and he said at that time I didn't need to come back unless there was a problem. Tomorrrow is the 6 wek mark for me and I am curious about the "remodeling"..... believe me I will check it out for myself..... but I am also kind of nervous about what I may feel.... there have been days that something just did not seem right.

Just got back from my 6 week check up. At two weeks, we just talked and discussed how I felt / recovery / surgery etc.
This check up he examined me internally as I expected and he said everything is healed inside and I can resume all activities with no restrictions. He did give me the option to take 1 more week off of work ( I work right below his office and he knows I do lifting and am in the water for PT), but since he said everything was healed we agreed that it was safe for me to go back to work full time.
I'm very sure I will be exhausted at the end of my day. My schedule is not up to my usual patient load so that's good. My supervisor knows that I usually handle more, but doesn't expect me to be full tilt at first. We'll see come Monday. I am kinda excited to get back to my real life as I have kinda felt like a loaf the last few weeks.

Please encourage your friends/ Doctors to look into the DaVinci method of Hysterectomy.... it's the new way and not everyone or many doctors are using the Robotic machine. But I think that it has been a blessing in my recovery. It is less invasive, less recovery time and a decrease chance for infection and blood loss. It was amazing.
