went to the doctor...

Lis and kristy,
just wanted to let you know that i went to the doctor and am on a "cath as needed" basis. I still have some retention, but for the most part I just choose to "go" a little more often at times to get it out rather than cath. It sucks at night if I drink too much and have to wake up every half hour until it comes out, but i'm just hoping things will continue to heal and get better. I'm still on flomax... I also found out I had another raw spot that the dr had to silver nitrate, but had no spotting or discomfort. Its a good thing I went for the check up. I have another one in 6 weeks, I suppose to checck on the bladder again and make sure everything is healed properly inside.
I've been feeling a lot stronger now that i'm back to teaching at the gym, but i'm always tired. I'm trying to eat healthier and avoid sugars and white pastas and breads to get my energy up and my moods smooth and happy. I think i'm a lot more joyful now overall, just to have my life coming back... so much to be thankful for.
Oh, dr also said i need to work on streching out the bladder by holding more urine for longer. I have a small capacity (always have) and apparently the bladder can be trained to hold much more. I just hope that as I grow the capacity, my bladder will release it correctly too.
Lis, i'm going to be waiting on pins and needles as you recover from surgery... waiting for your thumbs up!!
Kristy, i'm so inspired by you as a mom. Going through such a battle with your own physical issues, but putting it all aside to be there for your sick son. Most of all i'm so encouraged that you told him that "God has a purpose for him" ... its so true and I pray that you all will remain hopeful and strong, pressing in to HIM.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families,

Cool - Hysterectomy dates Aug 06-Aug 13,2007 weekend yah hoo

Kristi, I teared up when you told about your son's questions, we do wonder why a child ????it makes my heart hurt for him and you. As a mom I cannot imagine going thru what you are--you are one brave lady--prayers to you everyday.

Lis I am glad you can see the end in sight, how you have done what you've done so far is so beyond me, I cannot believe I complained of being sore. Makes me feel foolish.

I have to admit I feel like my old self again, get tired easy, but everyone treats us like normal and I feel like I am complaining if I mention I am pooped after a long day. DH has been great and still is cooking most meals or telling me he feels like cereal which is so not like him. Those days I head right to my bedroom and turn on my tivo and watch mindless tv. In bed early though and really don't have a week day night life.

Of course being laid up all summer I hadn't been able to visit my girls and grandchild so I am going thru major withdrawal, and how can I ask for time off when I took 7 weeks off. This is a holiday season that is going to be so different.

Well for the few still having problems there is light at the end of this trial, for the others stand tough on taking time for you, we still are healing even though I now have makeup on.

Talking - Hysterectomy dates Aug 06-Aug 13,2007 Add'l Surgery . . .

Hi Ladies,

Well, my gall blader is being removed the week before Christmas! This has not been the best of years! But on a good note I've refocused my life and I'm taking it back . . . At this stage of the game it's "all about me" and my family, but I'm putting myself first, sounds selfish, but if I don't take care of myself who will? I can't wait to kick up my heels and have some fun in '08. My new motto is "All will be Great in '08"

Hugs to all!

Ms Cape E - I love the "All will be great in 08" I think I will adopt that if you don't mind. This has been a bad year for me as well. In May I had to have my tonsils out at 45 years old and that was a horrible experience to say the least and then the TAH/BSO in August. I really want to put this year in health behind me.

I have some great news though....I became a grandma yesterday for the second time. My son and his wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. 5lbs 14oz and 19 inches long. She is perfect in every way. She gave us a scare though because she was not due until the end of this month and the Dr. said her placenta was beginning to separate and the baby was not getting anything through the umbilical cord. They did an emergency c-section and mommy, baby & daddy are all doing well. I just thank God she had a Dr. who was on top of things. He told us had he not caught this we would not have had a baby by Monday! I have her older brother who is 1 1/2 this weekend and I have to try to be Grandma and still not overdo at the same time.

I read everyones posts daily and think of you all with thoughts and prayers. I am glad we have each other to share our joys and concerns with.

back to the grind

I'm going back to work tomorrow. I know most of you have been back at it for some time now, but I could use a little encouragement.
I have a feeling I'm gonna get the "nice vacation" and no welcome back from anyone.
I was thinking I could show everyone my scar...
Take care & wish me luck!

Maggie---good luck tomorrow (or would that be today now?) Anyway, even though you've had a while to recover, your body will be tired after working a full day...just go back a few posts and you'll see that we still mention fatigue and exhaustion at the end of a work day. Still, start back slow...and remember that they could never fully understand what you've been through unless they've been through exactly the same thing and felt exactly the same way that you have these last few weeks...You GO Girl!! Remember your sisters are rooting for you.

Kristi--I've been thinking of you and your son daily. When I get to feeling sorry for myself I remind myself that my trials are small in the whole scheme of the world. I imagine that your son has been very brave through this ordeal. Your family is lucky to find such strength in eachother. I'll be praying for you and your son, and thinking of you as well. Please keep us posted.

Tracyd--congratulations!! You have a new Granddaughter! I am looking forward to being in your shoes in 10 or 12 years. So glad that everything is fine despite your scare.

Marcie--Isn't it funny how drs can be so different in how they approach situations. Mine never suggested trying to train my bladder to hold more, I can be in pain if I get between 200-300cc, although I've had up to 450 before (and 750 the day after surgery) Those were not good days. Good luck on this and keep me posted...I'd like to hear how this works.

MsCapeE--Good for you, putting yourself first!! But it's still frustrating that you have to have another surgery...especially the week before Christmas. Good luck and we'll be thinking of you.

Di--I hear you about being tired at the end of the day...I'm just exhausted. Unfortunately when I come home from work, my work is not done...I've still got the boys to feed, bathe, homework, laundry, etc. DH works nights and is gone when we get home so it's just me. Keep resting.

As for me, I'm nervous. I'm second guessing the surgery...is it the best thing, is it the right thing....

Everyone, have a wonderful day/week. I may not get back on here to see how you are until the end of the week.

Take care.

good luck today, My first day back I had mixed emotions. It felt good to be back but I was still tired. I had to go back to work at 5 weeks cause someone quit, and they knew about my surgery, guess they don't know how to count weeks on a calendar.. I only had one person say to me "nice vacation" and I consider that person ignorant. Most everyone else have been great, even now they tell me to take it easy.

Lis, Take care this week I'll be thinking about you on the 7th. Is someone going to help you with your children?

Tracyd.. A granddaughter what a gift.. I can't wait to be a gramma!!! Enjoy her

MsCapeE, wish we all lived closer so we could all kick up our heals in 08 together.

Kristi, I just read this morning " If god brings you to it he will bring you through it".

Take care all

Maggie: Good Luck back at work today. Take it slow Like we all said and just really listen to your body and what it is telling you or feeling. Even though I've been back at work at both my day and night job I am still getting exhausted at times and you will too especially since you are just going back. So make sure when you get home you get some rest. We're all routing for you. You know you can talk to all of us.

Tracy D - congrats on being a new grandma. How exciting. So happy everything is fine and mom, dad and baby are doing well.

Kristi: You have been in my thoughts this difficult time and I just wanted to let you know that we are all hear for you if you need to talk to us. Sending prayers and strength to you.

Miss Cape E: I think that we are all going to adopt your motto of "All will be great in 08". I love it. After not being healthy most of this year. Which lead to both of my surgeries. Then this recovery process. That goes along great and then you take a few steps back once in awhile. I think it should be all of us posters motto's for next year. Thanks for sharing it.

Lis: Good Luck with your surgery this week. We are all here for you as well. Saying prayers that this will be the answer to your problems and that you will have a speedy recovery from this.

Hugs to all my hyster sisters. Thanks for always being here for each other and I hope you all have a great week.

Zelda Bean, Sandy, Di, Marcie, MsCapeE, and Lis~~~Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragment; boy do I need it! I went to the doctor to get a form to take to the DNV for a temporary handicap placard for my car, and the dr. gave me one; but he marked the box that said PERMANENT handicap!! Boy did that hit me like a punch in the chest!! I never before realized that no matter what, my son will be handicapped forever. The only positive thing we are seeing now is; he will NEVER be drafted!! So I guess that is the thin silver lining. Sandy, yes I believe that since God brought us to this, He WILL bring us through it!! I just can't wait to be on the other side of it, and looking back at it. Thank you for being there for me; all of you!

Tracyd~~a new grandbaby! I can't wait until my married son (been married almost 4 years now) decides to give us a grandbaby!! Huge congrats! and 's

Maggie~~good luck at work; take it easy.

Unfortunately, I don't know if I can adopt the "all will be great in '08 ". My '08 will be spent in Children's Hospital with my son having chemo, but we can still hope for a better year! He is going to be in the hospital for Christmas day; and surgery the day after (the way the plans are now). And New Year's day, too. But, then I guess the worst will be over, we hope! We will get down to a routine of driving 4 1/2 hours every couple weeks for a week of treatment. Yikes! Oh well, we do what we have to do. By the way, I am not brave; I am only doing what I have to do for my son. I am doing what any of you would do. I am not special or extrodinary for what I am doing. Don't be fooled, it is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life!!! I hope none of you sisters EVER know what I am going through.

Anyway, have a good day, everyone. Lis, I will be praying for you on Wednesday. What time is surgery? Take care ladies. And thanks again for being there for me, as I am there for every one of you!
