I've been eating Dulcolax like candy and did a Fleets enema last night and 2 suppositories since and still nothing. When the dam burst run for cover!! Haha I pray everyone is doing better today. Take care
annointed...glad you are reading our thread...we are a month ahead of you and are definitely experts when it comes to gas and poo...!!! I made the mistake of doing laxatives and an enema and felt like s--- for about 36 hours...literally! The doc had to stifle a laugh when I finally called because I thought I was dying. Felt GREAT the next day. I had surgery on a Wednesday and did not poo until the following Monday. Then I did not poo again until the following Saturday...that was the day after my poo cocktail. Then I did not stop until the next day but now things work pretty well. I am 5 weeks post-op. One thing ai read on here and it really works is, when you need to poo sand you cannot , instead of straining and holding your breath while you try to push, take a big breath and then push as you exhale through your mouth. It really works! Better than popping a stitch straining, which one of the sisters did at 4 weeks post op. Good luck to you. I hope you are also on the thread for your date of hysterectomy.

Good morning Ladies,
5 weeks today for me - wow what a long way when I think back. I think we all need to commend ourselves for the progress we have made. I'm still quite sore by the end of the day. Mornings are really good for me, I get out for a walk after the DD's go to school. They love me being home, I try to bake something every day for them when the come home (I have never had the opportunity before). As for the sex, I can't even imagine. Although feeling very bad for my DH who has been waiting so patiently, as I was very sick for months before my TAH. I still think, he will be more afraid then me as well.

Men vs. Women

I agree with you, the men I work with and deal with on a daily basis have all been much more compassionate to me then most of my female counterparts. One of the men I see everyday at work stopped by my office to tell me he missed seeing me and only knew I had surgery. I went on to tell him I had a Hysterectomy, which he responded "I not sure I know exactly what that means, but I glad you're getting better" My response to him was "Now you have three more parts then I do"

Hello Sisters,

I had a much better day at work today. Yea! Made it through the whole 4 hours and actually felt like my head was in the game. Best part of all...I'm not laid out on the couch this afternoon. We are getting stronger!

It's so nice that issues I have concerns with, or things I notice, pop up in this forum within a day of my thoughts. My 5 week check up is tomorrow, so I've just started thinking about how sex will be if I'm cleared. Like the rest of you I'm a little skittish. Guess like everything else we've gotten back into, like work, housework, walking, etc., we'll need to take it gently and see how it goes from there.

Sex has us all skittish -- especially DHs. I hope the first to brave it reports to this thread how it went.

My surgery date was 16 Aug, LAVH, right ovary removed (I was born without a left ovary), and my doctor/surgeon had to correct some adhesions of my intestines to my uterus and to the abdominal wall. She also had to remove 2 of the 3 main fibroids from my uterus before she could remove the uterus through the vaginal wall. These fibroids were the culprit to my years of excessive bleeding issues. I am 50 years old (gee, how did I get this age so fast?!) Anyway, I have not read a lot of posts, but I am surprised at how much I am doing, how great I am feeling, and how little this surgery has changed me, especially compared to some of the posts that I have read. I had virtually no pain from the surgery (no pain pills whatsoever, even over the counter, at 3 days post op), the only major complaint I had was the first several days post op from the discomfort of "swelly belly", and back pain (mainly from laying around so much as I was not used to that). I have been cooking and doing laundry (except not lifting the baskets), grocery shopping, making the bed, and a lot of other things since 1 week post op (but slowly and carefully with no straining). I have been going back to my part time work at my desk/computer job. I started back to work 2 1/2 weeks post op for about 3 hours, but worked full 8 hour days on the weeks afterwards (only 2 days a week) and I feel fine. I'm sleeping very well, my hot flashes are now very infrequent (about 1-2 a day) and very mild. (I have been on bioidentical progesterone and testosterone since 1 year pre-op, and now a non-bioidentical estrogen patch since surgery in addition to the others.) I had no problems with bowels post op (doing my regular, daily routine, although a stool softner came in handy the first several days) and my skin is clear. Other than a little tiredness now and then, and some irratability (I think because I can't do my yardwork and other things I normally do, like have "relations" with my husband) I feel great! Can't wait to start getting some exercise soon (at my 3 week post op, my surgeon/doctor said still to only walk for exercise. Also can't wait for being cleared for "intimate relations"!, hopefully on the 6 week appointment...but I too, am a bit apprehensive about that!...don't want to hurt anything! I don't know if I am just unusual, but this whole procedure has been a piece of cake! How I WISH I had done this years sooner!

I am soo glad it has been so easy for you. I know some ladies that it had been very easy for also.
I wish it had been that way for me. I am only 30 and don't feel my age since my hyst.
I tried doing some laundry today, I only got two loads done and I am spent.

I'm easily spent too, Minni -- I think lots of factors go into recovery, not the least being the other things going on in your life. If you're dealing with recovery on top of other big life issues and stressors, you're bound to be feel worn out.
At least that's what I tell myself.
