Second post - also 6 weeks post op

Hey,

this is my second post. Just joined yesterday. I am 6 weeks post op. My last Dr. appointment was last week. He thought everything looked good. I am feeling alot better. The pain really let up between weeks 4-5, but at the end of the day, I can be pretty sore. I still have some numbness above the incision, where my tummy still feels puffy. I started wearing support panties today. It seems to help hold everything up. I worked two days this week and was off today and plan to work on Thursday and Friday. I was pretty tired last night and most of today. There seems to be peaks and valleys to my recovery. Anyone else in the same boat? It is great to have the pain decreased, but the fatigue makes me feel weepy in the morning and a little depressed.

Curious - Is anyone else still have numbness in around their incision. Above my incision on the left side is still very numb.

Have fun with the "Relations", I still am waiting until I get clearance next week!

For now, I will keep walking!
I'm still numb in small spots around the incision. As for *relations*, for some reason, I just can't get into it knowing there is cancer. I start radiation next week. I wonder how long before everything is healed from that before *relations*?? I guess I'll have to get creative to keep dh from feeling slighted

Numbness and pressure today. I am not back to work yet, but I spent too much time on my feet in the kitchen cooking I think.

Wondering... Is anyone else still having trouble sleeping at night?

Thanx.

Oh yea, I am still numb around my incision. My Dr. says that's normal and it just the nerves healing. Also still have lots of pain down my right side, feels like pins jabbing me from the inside, which Dr. says is just the muscle healing. But my Dr. says I'm doing great and I can resume all activities. Looks like we;re gonna make it

I still have numbness in, around, above, & below my incision, as well as pain in some areas if that makes any sense.

I have numbness in the my right hand, that wasn't there before surgery. I want to talk to my dr at my check up next Tuesday.

My scar feels tingly numb and normal. strange feeling.

I am still having pain in the area above the incision and across the abdomen, below the navel.

2nd full day on the Job

hi ladies, today was my 2nd full day on the job and i feel like i'm going to pass out about half way thru it. for some reason, today was harder than yesterday and i slept better last night, so i can't figure that out. this is a really strange recovery. yes, there are peaks and valleys for me too. today was definitely a valley. my super is a nice person, but you don't get much sympathy. once you are back to work, you are expected to work. i don't want to sound like a whning baby, but cut me some slack, i had major surgery. i asked her for a half day this coming friday and she said it will depend on our call volumes, but probably not.
i so wish my dr. gave me the ok for half days the first week but i asked him at my 4 week follow up and he said no. i mean, i'm glad i'm recovering well, but i'm just can't believe how totally exhausted i am trying to do my regular routine.
this surgery really takes a lot out of you (pun intended, haha ) we all just need to take care of ourselves and do the best we can. sooner or later, we'll be ourselves again. l

I have resumed most of my activities except heavy lifting. I can feel it half way through the day too. Today I had cramps/aches/light pain.

Peaks and valleys are a good way of putting it.

I don't know why your doctor wouldn't give you half days. I would think easing back into a full work week would be more sensible.

I hope you get back into the swing of it soon and feel better.

Hugs,

Welcome teddyg!! Wish you had joined us sooner.

I had my six week check up today also. Well it really wasn't a check up.
There was no exam only prodding one of the insitions on my belly that hasn't completly healed. That hurt pretty bad. Made my toes curled.
He did clear me for all activites and we didn't waste any time resuming all activities. It worked well. A bit tender but not bad at all.

Good luck to everyone else.
