Nor I, Survivor07 -- but I'm attributing my wiped-outness to a series of events this year that included breast cancer and a work situation which has me negotiating my way out. Physically doing pretty well -- but my energy levels have taken a kicking. I look healthy but the prospect of working this week would be entirely too daunting.

They say general anesthetic can take months to overcome (I've had three) . . . I'm impressed with all those who are braving the rigors of work.

I am impressed with everyone as well! It kind of makes me feel wimpy or just plain lazy, but my energy level is just not there yet and just the thought of getting ready for work is exhausting!

Kids mentioned...

I was laid off 2 weeks before my surgery (I elected to be the one instead of someone else taking lay off when I knew I was having this done). I stopped by to chit chat a bit this morning and am glad to know they don't anticipate calling me back within the next few weeks. I miss work, but I am also enjoying the time I have off. I am getting to spend a lot more time with my 3 kids by dropping them off and picking them up from school and also am enjoying (now that I can do a bit more) decluttering our house and getting things ready for what I anticipate will be a massive garage sale! I am also volunteering a lot at the schools helping teachers and stuff like that, things I've never been able to do before!

I'm not really sure I want to go back to work period some days, and some days I wish I was already back... such a struggle!!!

I know where you are coming from. I would like to not go back as well. I am expecting my first grandchild- due date Nov 3. My daughter-in-law is a school teacher and is not sure if she wil go back. If she does, they will need someone to watch the baby, Thats where I come in. I am not sure which direction to go in at this moment. Oneis job that pays, that other pays no money, but gives joy and fulfillment.....

survivor07, if you can, go for the joy and fulfillment, you will be glad you did. i went back to work on 9/24 and it practically killed me. i was out one day shy of 6 weeks. my dr said 6 weeks was the most they would authorize, so i had no choice in going back. if i did, i'd be out for about another month, maybe more. this is a very draining surgery. i am sapped by about 1 pm each day.

Bummed - had my 6 week & the doc said all my stitches weren't gone. No sex for THREE more weeks!
Time for a second opinion. That was my Nassau OBGYN - I'll call my Stateside surgeon tomorrow.

Hi ** Hi **

Off to work I go. I put in a full day today, very difficult. Some nasty stuff came up and I realized stress is very hard to fight off right now. I don't have the full patience to deal with things (I'm usually very mellow).

I finally go for my 6 wk check-up tomorrow (I hope he says I'm okay to go back to work considering I'm already there.)

In all everyone - if you can stay home longer, go for it. I would have. I only feel this obligation to get back & manage the place while the Boss is away. He was quite reluctant on me coming back early, I'm just too responsible.

Glad to see everyone is coming along (as well as we can).

I sure hope I get the "All clear" tomorrow. I'm getting tired of this swelly belly.

One Down

Well I worked a half-day today and it was PLENTY.
Everyone was very nice and glad to see me -- but as the afternoon wore on they started revealing "problems" and "issues" that came up when I was gone "that they didn't want to bother me with".... Can't wait to see how deep that pile turns out to be! I was tired by 4PM and was amazed how much I couldn't do on autopilot! Actually had to request one of my passwords be changed cos I could not think of it! Sheesh! Anyway - I lived. Am home now with my swelly belly lounge pants on and have eaten a decent dinner -- and tomorrow is another day! For those sisters who have yet to go back to work -- if you can ease back into it part-time --- DO IT!!!!

What to wear?

What are those of you who are back to work wearing? I find a few hours in jeans or slacks and I'm begging for my swelly belly loungers.

Hyster clothes

I am back to working and still wearing draw string pants/capris (fortunately still nice out), with a golf shirt or something. I work in an office environment as a Manager, so I normally dress Business casual. I am still wearing my crocs, not into tying shoes just yet. The Boss says no problem whatever I'm comfortable in. I haven't had any outside meetings so it's been all right. When I went out to a meeting, I wore an nice elastic wait skirt & sweater. Honestly, I am very fortunate I work at such a great place, I guess that's why I was willing to go back early to help them out.

Zappo - I had the same day you did at work, I ran into an error for $2mil today, still not fixed when I left today. I will be back at it tomorrow (I'm glad I'm back though, I'm usually the investigator on these problems.

I can't wait to go shopping for new clothes.

Now for another restless nights. Our poor DH's - Aren't they the best for being so patient!
