Hello Ladies.

The good news is....the catheter is OUT! YAY! The urologist didn't do a scope today to visually check things, but one will be booked for 2 months down the road. When I told him I had had some leaking, even with the catheter in, he questioned how much, and said he'd prefer to keep it in for another 2 weeks!! I told him, "OH NO YOU DON'T!!" He then agreed to take it out as long as I was diligent in keeping the bladder as empty as possible. He said it was a slow healing process, but gave me the go ahead to return to work in a month, providing there was no leaking. I was pain free, mobile, and peeing normally before I left that appointment! What a relief!

The bad news is...2 hours later...major gushing happening, even right after I had been to pee. I went to my gyno doctor's appointment about that time, so consulted him on it. We're not sure if my muscles are lax from having the catheter in so long, or from the spasm meds I was taking, or if it's back to square one with the original problems I was having. There is no urgency to actually pee...it just seems to leak. Otherwise, I am able to pee normal amounts the usual way, at regular intervals. He told me to monitor it for a few days, but if it continues or worsens to definitely be in touch with either him or the urologist within a week, for a more immediate follow up.

It kind of bugs me how every little success or bit of good news seems to be followed with a "but" to take the shine off my happiness. But at least....even with pads to deal with again....at least for the time being, I am mobile again!

Crafty23, I am so sorry.
I seems that for every step forward you take 2 back. I hope that it is just the meds or lax muscles. You deserve to be free of these problems.
Keep your chin up eventhough it is very hard at the moment.

As always....thanks so much for your words of support!! Believe me, I will be monitoring this carefully for LESS than a week, and will call either doctor if it doesn't appear to be letting up. I don't think I'm willing to wait 2 full months for a repeat scope, if it seems I am back to my old problems again, despite the surgery.

The good news is...I had my most restful night in many weeks...up once to pee, but that was minor...I slept for 2 full 5 hour stretches!

I'm treating myself out to a night of bingo tonight...yee-haw, huh? What a party animal! It will be good to see a crowd of faces for a change though!

Again...thanks so much for thinking of me. I was literally swamped with phone calls of well-wishes yesterday, so no nap was in order for me, after a very early morning up. It's great to know people are pulling for me!

Anyone's Incision Still Tender ?

Hi Ladies,

i'm over 9 weeks post op now and my incision is still so tender and it is still bright red. does anyone else have it like this ? even if i just lay my hand on it, i can still feel it quite a bit. is that normal after this long? the cut line itself is what is bright red, it's not red around it or anything.
could it be infected after all this time. i'm not sure. was thinking of calling the doctor. thanks for your input.

Mine is normal skin color, but mine was glued shut. No staples, or external stitches. Mine healed very well.

Is your incision hot? I would call the Dr. just to be sure.

I am very sore around my incision area, but internally if that makes sense.

Good luck and feel better.

hi , happy4all

i didn't have any external stictches either. i think it was all closed up from the inside. i just felt it now and it is a little warm, but not hot. i'm wondering if it's warm just from having my clothes on. i have been waiting and waiting for the tenderness to go away and it hasn't yet. i think i will take your advice and call the dr. tomorrow is saturday though, so maybe i'll have to wait till Monday to get in touch with them. internally, i'm pretty good now. it's defintely external incision trouble for me. thanks for getting back to me.

Could it be that your clothing is rubbing on it, to keep it inflammed? Just a thought.

Hi Ushmush...

My incision has been good and pain free since week one when the staples came out. Normal colour, and definitely all healed up by week 2. I am wondering about the clothes too, playing a part. I have been in my "fat pants" with drawstring for the last 9 weeks, so everything is loose and comfy. I DO remember with my cesarean incision, decades ago, that it acted as a "lightning rod" for wet weather changes for about 6 months. I could always tell when rain was coming, because it would ache like crazy for the day before. The doctor said I was nuts, but it worked every single time! LOL

It's probably best for you to call the doctor on Monday for sure, just to see what his opinion is.

On the home front here, I am leaking like mad again, after that catheter came out!!! I am so upset that I might be back to square one, despite the bladder repair. I did a quick 1/2 hour "tampon test" yesterday too, and there's definitely urine coming from vag again too. He told me not to do any penetration, but I had to know, so the tampon went in for a short bit. I'm also upset now that he didn't do a scope on Thursday for a visual look, but plans it for 2 months down the road. I was changing the heavy bladder control pads every hour yesterday, and soaking those! I'll definitely be calling on Monday if this doesn't stop! I know he'll suggest the catheter go back in. I am getting so fed up with all this!

Thanks for letting me vent yet again.

Oh Crafty I am so sorry you have to go through all of this. I do hope things clear up for you soon. There has to be a way to get this all taken care of. I've been doing really well only to find out that now I have to see a general surgeon to get an incisional hernia repaired...........Just when we are felling better and things are moving along so well, boom something sets us back. But I have decided that I will just keep chugging along this is only temporary even though I'm not looking forward to anymore surgeries no matter how small..... I just want you to know though that you have been an inspiration to me also and I hope and pray things will improve for you! Hang in there!!!!
