Just checking in. Sounds life everyone is doing so much better. I really feel for those of you who have are still having major issues. I have been doing much better other than this lump on my left side. Had a cT scan done and they can't tell for sure that it's a hernia, am having laprascopic surgery on the 20th so they can figure out this mass and fix it. Hopefully it's nothing major. Other than the pain on my left side, I have been feeling really well energy wise. Not looking forward to more sugery, but need to have this taken care of. Then hopefully that will be the end to surgeries forever. Take care everyone!!!

hi Wheaton and all other sisters,
swelly belly not too bad today. first thing in the morning my belly is fine and stays that way till about 12 pm, then i feel it starting slowly. i hear you, i want my energy back too. i get so wiped out at work it's not even funny. about 2 pm i just want to put my head down and sleep. i heard it will take about a year till you feel like you didn't have any surgery at all. that's a long time coming, so i guess we all just have to be patient. hope all is well with everyone.

Hello again...

I met with my Urologist yesterday again, and it was mainly a consult and a "pep talk." My scope isn't scheduled until Nov. 22nd, but I needed some questions answered about all these plumbing problems, despite the repair surgery, as well as a new note, to extend my time off from work.

Interestingly enough, I did a quick 15 minute "tampon test" before the appointment, because I was bewildered as to why I should have all this involuntary leaking, when I was doing my Kegals, and able to stop & start the flow easily, during regular urination, in the bathroom. Well....the tampon came out soaked, so it would seem I am still having problems that way, and not just "stress incontinence" since the repair!

The doctor basically said that everything would need to wait until he was able to take a look with the scope, and determine the next course of treatment after that. He stressed, that while he does hundreds of surgeries, he wanted to do what's best for me long term, and with the least risk of doing further harm or damage. He reminded me that damage to the bowel during another full abdominal surgery could be so much worse! One of the scenerios he said was a possibility (if it appeared things were still trying to heal) was to put the catheter back in for another week to 10 days, along with another round of antibiotics!!!! Agaain---I am NOT happy about that prospect, but will comply with whatever he decides. He says he will definitely NOT give up on me; that I am too young to be dealing with this, and that it will, eventually be resolved, but that it could take time yet.

I am sooo ready to be back at work, otherwise though, and find it hard to keep telling my employer "2 more weeks, or 3 more weeks" every time I stop by the office. I guess they call us "patients" for a reason, but mine is wearing thin.

Thanks yet again for letting me vent.

Crafty23,
I am sorry that you have to wait that long for the scope. I can understand what the Dr is saying about the bowels etc. It is easy for him though, because he isn't the one with the problem. I hope when they do the scope that the problem " slaps" them in the face so that you can have some relief.

Ushmush,
I know that 2 pm tiredness. I had it yesterday, at about the same time I got a new assignment at work. I was running around like a crazy lady because I was trying to keep up. Being out of work for 9 wks made me kinda rusty. We got a new computer system just before I had my surgery and I am still playing catch up.

Have a good weekend ladies

Three Months!!

Hey, Friends....

THREE MONTHS!
Did that ever seem possible?

I have more energy and feel more like myself this past week or so. Still have the good old swelly belly that seems to always have the sore but yet kinda numb thing happening by day's end... but definitely better.

I'm glad I had the surgery - it is amazing not to be in constant pain and always anemic.

And I am so glad I had all of you brave souls to go through it with. Thanks you for all of your sharing and support.

Just wanted to check in -- hope you all are making progress, too!

Hey ccamrine, I noticed you mentioned being dizzy and also that you are on the Vivielle Dot....I am on it too,and have had a little bit of dizziness. They put a tag on my box of patches that says that they may cause dizziness. Could be what is causing yours, especially if they just upped the dose.
Whoever mentioned about being in a brain fog; I am certainly there too! I just had a post op check again with my Dr, and she gave me a shot of testosterone; said it should help my issues of mental fog, some fatigue, and vaginal dryness. I said YEP I could definately use help in all three of those departments!
Speaking of those hormone patches, how on earth do you get the sticky residue off your skin after you take a patch off? It's so much worse than a bandaid....seems whether I rub it off, or scratch it off with my fingernail, etc, my skin gets irritated. Is there something that will dissolve it without affecting my skin?
And...speaking of pimples; I think it is a hormone thing mainly (or stress; that can sure do it too). I'm on bio-identical hormones and have been about year prior to my surgery; they seem to really make a difference in not only my completion, but my overall general wellbeing.

Hi girls

Yeah, can't believe its been 3 months. When I think back on how I've recovered it's pretty amazing. I'm back teaching bellydancing two nights per week plus going to a class once a week. I'm working 4 days a week and yep, I am pretty tired by the end of the day and my body is more fatigued than it was before the op but hey, no more periods yippee, a bladder of steel and sex without condoms. Thank God we live in the 21st century! Good luck girls, here's to a happy and healthy future for all. Just remember, we only got rid of the nursery, not the playground!!!

Lots of love

Hello Ladies...

It's been a long time since I posted. Just read through everyone's recent posts. It's wonderful to see everyone is improving. What a long way we've come in three months!

I, too, am more mellow. It amazes me. Big issues come up at work and it doesn't stress me out like before. What a wonderful side effect from the surgery. Geez, I would have done this years ago if I'd have known how easy this all would be.

My energy is back, and in fact, I think I'm more energetic than before the surgery. Only issue I have is some vaginal dryness, itching...but what a small issue.

It's all good sisters! We have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

Hi all, I am at three months too! I did not realize it until I read your emails. I still have swelly belly too! And that same sore and tender spot on the left side. Stitch bundle still healing? I go in for a check up after TG so I will ask about it. I know I feel better. Definitely more energy, like my old self. Today I mowed mulched and raked the yard, pulled crabgrass out of the flower beds, etc. Usually I would have come in and napped or laid around because I would have been on my period. Nope, then I went to the recycle center to dump the leaves, post office, grocery store, Lowes, Target to get all the prep for TG and then came home and drug out the ladder to change the seed in the bird feeders and all the burned out lightbulbs in a home with ten foot ceilings. I am really short. But jean still are not very comfortable and I definitely have noticeable swelly bellly still. It is great to hear what all of you are doing.
