Ovarian Cyst so far...

I dont' know if anyone remembers me or not, I have only become a member since last week. Well I was waiting for my test results. Still waiting actually but I did get some info. My Doc and I played phone tag most of the day but I managed to talk to one of the girls in the office and all she could tell me was from what the doc jotted down is I have a cyst on my left ovary. Tomorrow I should be able to get the rest of my test results BUT one thing she said was I have to go back for MORE images!! OMG!! Like the first time wasn't enough, getting a vaginal u/s is so invasive! Funny too since I found this out today, now I am getting pain off and on on my left side! Well hopefully I will have more news tomorrow.

I had a CT scan and no vaginal u/s. Could they do that, instead?

I think I will ask. CT means CAT scan?

Ovarian Cyst so far...

Yes, I had an abdominal CAT (CT) scan with IV and oral contrast.

I have a 10-11 cm fibroid and multiple other, smaller ones. I have sleep problems, heavy, prolonged bleeding, anemia, my uterus is 16 cm, etc, so it was pretty clear to the doctor that I would need the hysterectomy. So maybe the vaginal u/s wasn't as important?

I'm sure each doctor is different, but because I, too, felt the vaginal u/s was too invasive and I was terrified of it, it could not be done and my doctor was okay with that, along with the abdominal ultrasound.

Please tell your doctor how you feel, what your concerns are, etc and hopefully you can come up with a plan that works for you and gets him/her all the diagnostic information they need.
