Am I the only one that didn't have an inernal exam at my 5 weeks post op appt?

I went for my post-op appt. at 5 weeks and the doctor checked my incision on my abdomin. I asked if he had to check internally and he said no. I was surprised because the e-mails I've read from everyone else, they were checked internally.
I don't have to go back for another year.
Does this sound right?
I have a great dr., he is even the head of the surgery dept.

I went in at two weeks to get my incision checked and at six weeks for an internal exam. I guess all doctors are different. I didn't really WANT an internal exam, but I wanted to know I was healing in there.

When I went for my 6 week checkup, I didn't have an internal exam either. I was surprised too.
He said he only does that if you had surgery vaginally.
He checked my incision and felt my abdomen and said I was good to resume all activities.

I did NOT have an internal exam during my 5 week post op. He said there was no need. I too had a TAH.

He simply told me to resume activities slowly and as I'm comfortable.

I also didn't have an internal at my 6 week check-up. My DR basically said there's no real need, seeing as my recovery had been pretty problem-free (except for some incision hassles, which he did check on).

It sure does seem every doctor is different. All in all, I found this site a much more informative source for info than anything I got from the medical community! (sad to say, but true).

Happy recovery to you all!

I didn't have an internal exam at my 3 week or 7 week exam or even at my 3 and 6 month exam. I will soon be approaching my first yearly exam.

thank you everyone for replying. I had a TAH also, so that is probably why I didn't have an internal either.
My doctor told me to come back for my yearly exam. I wonder if that means a year from when I had my last exam or a year from my post op appt. I guess I should call to find out. Anyone else have to go back in a year?
