Well, I was able to take a shower today, finally! I feel so much better from that. My hair was in a permanent ponytail before I washed it.

I'm having to take my vicoden every 4 hours for pain. Otherwise, I'm doing pretty good. I'm just trying to take it easy.

I did weigh myself last night and saw that I had gained 10 pounds. I'm assuming from the swelling because for 3 of the days of the past week I didn't eat anything.

Hope everyone is doing good!

WOW I think I wrote that! Same EXACT thing. I can feel this seemingly HUGE knot under the incision. Was starting to worry but guess its normal. no stitches out tho. the worst bruising is on my pelvic bone spot. no lumps there though.

Happy healing

one week to the day and every day seems a little better. Today I walked to the park at the end of the street and back, then went to the garden and picked tomatoes but only the ones i didn't have to bend for. think I over did it I am really tired and hurt worse then yesterday. On Sunday when the nurse took out the staples she noticed a 2 inch area not completely closed on the outside but said the inside was and it would be ok. Today when the strips came off it was more together so unless it gets worse I guess I won't worry. doesn't look infected. Todays bowel movements looked a little bloody don't know if that is normal but I have hemos. so I guess I will wait on that on to. talk more later.

Hey Everyone, I'm new, had my TAH on the 21st. I'm sore as crap. Can't believe I have gone through all of this. I sympathize with all of you ladies.
I'm bored, sore, emotional. I have a patch that helps w/the menopausal symptoms. It works pretty good. Each day gets a little better.

Felt good this AM and drove 4 miles (with Mom) to buy a birthday pres for my devoted sister. This afternoon, after a nice nap, I started feeling warm so took my temp, which was 100. I took another Aleve, but temp is 99.6 2 hrs later. Slight headache, but no other "indicators". I don't know if I overdid it or somethings infected.......we'll see what the morning brings.

Had my TAH on 8/21. Almost died when I got home Friday and found I'd gained 10 lbs. HOW!?? I hadn't eaten anything. But, by Tuesday, I was back down to what I was when I went in. And, today, I'm down four pounds. :-)

Showering is the total highlight of my day, even after being home almost a week! :-)

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I was afraid and you know what, it wasn't that bad. I mean personally, the pain can be tough at times, just keep ahead of it, I think the morphine and the itch from it was the worst part. I am having a hard time not being able to do things...weeding, vacuuming, etc....but I'll survive.

Anyone who wants to email me, my address is listed below. I'll help you get through anyway I can, I wish you all the best. So happy to have found all my sisters on this site.

God bless all of you. I'm on the other side....a bit sweaty, but thats it.

Good luck!

Lisa

I too had a really hard time with the itching side effect of the morphine. I had no idea WHY I was so itchy! Just before my transfusion, I finally said something to the nurse and she explained and gave me 50mg of Benadryl, which *knocked* me out!

I'm day 9 post-op and feeling pretty good. The pain changes everyday and I'm assuming that's progress. I did just experience my first sneeze since surgery and about went through the roof!

Take care everyone, and heal well. The worse is over!

Improving

Can't believe this time last week I was downing Golytely with my face all scrunched up from the taste.

I walked half a block with a pillow to move my car. Drove side streets and parked it 1/2 block away so the street cleaners wouldn't ticket me.

My appetite is back and I slept through the night instead of the 1:00am wake up and laying there 'til 5:00 and falling out again. That will never do if I'm going back to work soon.

My stitches are tight but nothing seems to hurt except for the two times I've sneezed today. I couldn't stifle them.

My only other complaints are that my hair is still dry as *^%# (and I am hair obsessed). Also, my posture sucks because everytime I try to straighten up properly, I feel like I'm pulling on the stitiches. Stomach still bloated but I was alittle bloated before all this so I don't know how much is post-op and my middle-age paunch.

Got alot of work done today.
