Will I have to take it forever?

When you go on any kind of hrt or bio-hrt, when does it stop? I am 42 and I had a TAH, but when would you stop the hormones? Do you ever?

I am in the dark about all of this and after reading in here I never realized the bone loss risk or anything. I am at my wits end with the hot flashes and all of the nonsense.

If I DON"T choose any kind of therapy will these symptoms pass on their own? How long would that take?

Will I have to take it forever?

Taje,
I don't think there is one right answer to your question. Everyone is different. I can tell you that I've been on hrt for 8+ years now and have no plans to discontinue it in the immediate future. I do make sure and have my annual exams; to include mammogram, bloodwork and pap. My doc and I than discuss the results and hrt. As long as I am doing well and my test results are good she says I can continue.

I was one who had symptoms immediately after surgery, even though I was started on hrt right after surgery. I now know that many of the symptoms were from fluctuating hormone levels as my body used up its stored reserves of hormones and recovered from surgery.

Do the symptoms ever go away? Again, not an easy answer. For some, their symptoms may abate over time, for others, no they do not go away.

in there.
