Achy knees--related to TAH/BSO somehow?

Boy, when it rains it pours! I've also been having achy (sp?) knees for the past couple of days. Is that due to depleting estrogen, or just due to inactivity? Very annoying.

Achy knees--related to TAH/BSO somehow?

Marisol52

It could be either but my knees ached like crazy whilst I was on Lupron before my surgery (chemcial menopause).

Are you taking, or considering taking HRT? It may be worth having a word with your doctor about this.

I hope it sorts itself out very soon. Take care!

Achy knees--related to TAH/BSO somehow?

Hi poodle, thanks for responding! No, I'm not on any hrt, want to see what my body does on its own, so far so good, but only time will tell of course (of course, plan to take extra care of my bones and heart, etc.) I'm hoping I'm just getting achey from lack of exercise, but WILL mention it next week.

Marisol - I have been having the same problem! No HRT for me either. I am 40, and my knees feel like I would expect them to at 65!
If you find a solution other than hormones, please let me know.

I would guess our inactivity??? I'm on HRT and my hips and knees are sooo sore. Hang in there everyone. Two steps forward one step back. I know I forget to drink enough water. I'm sure that would help... couldn't hurt for sure.

Now I'm wondering if I, and maybe some of the rest of us here, are just noticing aches we've had all along anyway (maybe due to age?) but ignored because we were busy and active.....hmmmmm......I can't wait to be more physically active!

Achy knees--related to TAH/BSO somehow?

I started having the achy knees when taking Lupron three months before my surgery. After surgery I had no pain for about four weeks. At week four, i started with the achy knees and achy-ness in my legs and hips, especially when going from a sitting position to standing. I am not on HRT. I read that one symptom of menopause is achy joints

Achy knees--related to TAH/BSO somehow?

My right knee and calf hurt like crazy after surgery. Doctor did test to rule out blood clot. That was normal. But since I 'am more mobil it has gotten alot better. I did start increasing my water intake and added pottasium supplement. I'am also on Vivelle dot 1mg.
