6 days post op...pain and temp.

I am 6 days out post-op partial Hyst. I am having ALOT of pain and continue to run a temp no less than 100. My Dr. gave me 20 pain pills out of the hospital and said that should be fine. Only its NOT! When I called he said that unless my temp got to 102 or more then I shouldn't worry and that to just take Ibuprofen. I feel like Im going to just fall apart. What do I do?????

It's FINE for you to ask for more pain pills. I say make an appointment so he has to try and turn you down face to face. I know I took more than that recovering. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Take care and know we're all wishing you rest and comfort tonight.

I am wondering how you will know what your true temp is if you are taking Ibuprofen? I had alot of pain starting on about day 6 and had a terrible bladder infection. Everything hurt and I was so sick I could not tell what hurt the most (my bladder). My temp did finally run a temp over 102 but it took a good week first. Just a thought. Good Luck

Have been exploring around.17 days out for me.Have been running fever everyday.Average temp. is 100.0 Doc says I have a cuff infection.On second round of antib.s But I am really feeling depressed about feeling like I have the flu everyday.I was told the fever does not have to mean anything bad(although it did in my case).It means your body has been through alot and is trying to heal . Take care.

The elevated temp could be your body trying to heal...I agree with finally there. If you are taking Advil around the clock, how are you to know if you spike a high fever?

And don't get me started on the pain pill issue! My ding-a-ling doctor did the exact same thing to me. When I called and asked for more, he told me I should be fine and he refused to call in a refill.
