I had my surgery on the 4th and was home on the 5th. I have had a hard time keeping pain under control but think that I am getting a hang of it. I am sore and the gas pains can make my whole abdomen hurt. I am taking percocet and ibuprofen for the pain, of course, I am alternating the meds. Still nothing that I have taken makes the pain go completely away.

I am able to walk short distances and am using a pillow for support of my abdomen when I am laying down.

So far, so good. I have my follow up appt on the 28th. I have had a low grade temp and it seems the that I have areas in my upper lip that are from the anesthesia that seem to be infected. I am keeping it clean and rinsing it as much as I can. I think that I am going to apply some hydrogen peroxide to help slough off the old stuff so that it can heal faster. I wish they would be a little bit more gentle when they put that tube in your mouth.

Anyway, that is my update. Hope everyone else is doing fine.

Thanks for all the support.

Hi Everyone
My surgery was on the 4th and I came home on the 6th. The hardest thing for me is to get up and down oout of bed or a chair. I am very sore and the dr has me taking Tyneldol 3 for the pain. I would like to get one of the swelly belly bands but they cut me in the opposite direction. If anyone has any sugesstions I would greatly appricate it. You have all been a great help.

I too had my hysterectomy on the 4th. I came home on the 6th. It has been a less than perfect experience. I had a reaction on two occasions to two antibiotics which now makes me allergic to almost all antibiotics available. I ran a fever and high blood pressure. As soon as those were under control they let me go home. I am still in a lot of pain. I had to see my family dr. today for a pre-op visit before my ankle surgery next Friday and now it looks as though that may not happen as I am now anemic and am building fluid in my lungs. On the bright side - No hot flashes yet!! I hope each of you is healing much better

Hi everyone
I am now home. I had surgery on the 5th and was released from the castle last night. I had everything taken out. First time ever cut. I have staples which I have to get taken out next week. I am taking motrin every 6 hours for pain and taking Ambian for sleeping.

The first night was awful as was the first day after sugery, talk about pain! I was in tears. 2 percocet did nothing. I then had to have another dose of a painkiller, sorry I can't remember the name, it began with a D but it made me sick. Then that afternoon, all of a sudden the pain subsided. It was amazing. (I am having a really hard time typing this)
Anyway, the pain is minimal, I am very tired. What bothers me is the smell. I can't tell if its the vaginal discharge or the incision. Its really bad. Anyone else have this??
My mother is here right now taking care of me, she is cleaning my house. Go figure! Its ok, I appreciate it very much. Ok, Im tired, so back to bed, I 'll check in later. Hope everyone else is doing ok. Hugs to my sisters.

Connie

PS Oh, and I haven't had a cigarette for 4 days now!!

My first day was hard. I had such a hard time managing the pain after surgery. They gave me fentanyl which didnt work and the dilaudid which didn't work...they gave that to me four times...it relieved for what seems five minutes and then the pain returned. I finally got torodol which relieved the pain. I have been taking percocet and ibuprofen. I am trying to wean off of the percocet with no success. I am hurting today which means I will break down and take the percocet.

Good luck and just rest. My mom has been helping me out too.

Dilaudid. Thanks, thats what it was, it helped with the pain but it made me sick to my stomach, I ended up having to take a pill for the nausea just so I could eat. I ate nothing for 2 days. Vicodin makes me sick too, the only thing I can take is ibuprofin. percocet makes me too loopy...Good luck, I hope you're feeling better soon,.

I have got to get back to bed.

Hi sisters,
I had my surgery on the 5th and came home on the 7th. I had a vertical tummy cut from my belly button down. I think I have about 15 staples. The pain was controlled very well in the hospital with roxicodone. I was sent home with tylenol 4 and benadryl for sleep.
My incision is very stingy alot of the time. I am wearing a belly binder and that seems to help alot.
Hugs and kisses to all

Hi Mcgraw fan,
you and I had the same procedure on the same day! the only difference is my incision is horizontal instead of vertical. i haven't counted my staples yet, the first time i saw the incision it looked like something out of a horror film! I am taking 800mg of motrin every 6 hours and also have a belly binder. just laying in bed watching lots of tv for now. I can't seem to focus on much like reading yet but when I am ready for that I have a new book to dive into..hugs

Surger Sept. 4th

Boy, am I ever glad it's behind me now. WHEW! The sugery went well. My doctor took everything, but my left ovary. The first and second day of pain...UGH!...beyond words. After they took out my catheter, I was unable to use the bathroom at all. They had to cath me several times each day. I went in on the 4th and came home late evening on the 7th. They taught me how to catherize myself here at home. NO FUN! I have the worse burning in my right ovary area..like it's on fire inside. If it wasn't for the hot burning inside, I think I could say I'm doing great. My belly is very swollen. I know...its to be expected. But still....sniff...can't wait for it to go down. Over all my surgery went well and I'm on the road to recovery. Thank you all for the get well wishes and encourging words. Oh, wait..forgot to say I don't have staples. Only tape. Big happy smile cut. HUGS to all!
