Well, I learned my lesson!!! I had LAVH-RSO on 9/4 with a couple minor complications, one was a tear in my bladder. With the tear, I had to keep my catheter for 10 days and just got that out on Monday (YEAH!!) and got ok to drive. I was feeling great, no pain, lots of energy so I released my help and decided I was just fine to do all those little things that have been ignored for the last 10 days. Oh, did I mention that I have 2 young boys (7 & 2)home with strep??!! Drove the 7-yr old to Dr. an then to store to p/up perscriptions..big mistake. By the time I left store I was nauseated, shuffling feet cuz it hurt to walk, dizzy and so weak my son had to push cart and I held on for balance. After got home the PAIN started, burning hot achiness in my abdomen with sharp pings on right side every now and then. I took to the bed with heating pad for aching back and took some Aleve. I didn't want to take a pain pill cause they give me lots of energy and I haven't been sleeping well...or at all for that matter. Only slept a couple of hours last night and this morning I still have that burning feeling in my abdomen. Still a bit nauseated too. On top of of all this my bladder is so messed up I can't really tell when I have to go. Anyway, wahh, wahh, wahh. Sorry to whine, but if ya'll can't understand, then who can, right!! I certainly don't want to whine to DH...he is a hardworking gem. He has really been there..working all day then handling the kids at night. I do have to laugh at him, cuz he has finally realized why I am so cranky by 7pm and want the kids in bed NO LATER than 8pm.

Thanks for letting me whine on and on and on and .......

A girdle is probably a good idea, when the swelling goes down. We used to live in Germany and after giving birth the women would wear girdles for 6 weeks to get back into shape. I think it helps the stomach muscles and reminds one to keep them tight.

i can definitely understand you there, Cat.
if i hear another hollow "call me if you need anything" i will smack someone!

i got those messages and opportunities to tell my friends that they were failing and to weed out those who couldnt take honest feedback, before my surgery (while i was dealing with the emergency of Leanna's accident)....
so by the time i got to my surgery - i knew if i called on someone that they would be there for me. it still depressed me that i had to call - what if i passed out? who was going to check on me?! i was vaguely angry at those i love for .... theoritically failing me! LOL - not fair, but there you go.

Today is 12 days Post-Op.
my BMs are regular. my appetite is regular (actually i am hungry all the time!). my sleep is getting better.
swelly belly still is a problem and i can feel more/different pains in my belly now.....

we had a disaster monday night - scared me enough that i called the doctor.
Leanna was finally able to come home on Monday (from being hit by a truck) - but is very very much needing assistance. - i can help some - but her doctors all know i cant lift more than 10lbs...
she fell down in the bathroom in the middle of the night and i couldnt do anything but watch her fall! - i felt sick.
then i did the stupid thing - i tried to drag her back into the bedroom where she could be comfortable.
i didnt hurt her - but felt something very wrong in my belly.
Leanna weighs a bit more than 10lbs.
STUPID stupid me.... i was just so worried about her.
we called friends and they got her back into bed.
i thought i might have torn some internal stitches.....
after seeing the doctor the next day - conclusion was i might have torn some around the internal stitches - but no internal bleeding and i just set myself back in healing a bit.
and i got a lecture (which i deserved!)

Long babbling way to remind outselves to be honest and not allow our own pride to get into the way of our healing - rest if you need to rest. say 'no' if you have any doubts and ASK for help when you need help....

no need in killing ourselves - after all we all just survived The Castle.

Well, I called my doc about working today and he wants to see me monday, I have had a discharge since I had the surgery. I have had brownish drainage and then some red mixed with mucous. It is light, as I only need to wear a panty liner. Well according to the girl in the office I should not have anything. I was like....huh? Well, when I told her I had intermittent reddish discharge she said that he would be upset. Well, I told her I was on my own and off without pay. He knew this before the surgery. He may have to cauterize. I have the next 4 days off so I am staying home and doing nothing. I just hope it isn't prolonged. I have no help with anything. My family thinks I am back to normal. I need to have money coming in since I want to stay where I am living. I mean....I don't have a choice. I told her that I have used common sense when doing these things. I told her what I did, that I did have to vacuum one time since my daughter had food on the floor and I wasn't leaving that. I had to carry groceries up since I need to feed my child. I don't have anyone to do this. If he gets mad he gets mad. I have been as good as I can and considering everything that I could do, well, I have been very good.

Went today for the post op exam. Told surgeon I had staining since the surgery and a foul smell. He said I didn't have an infection and the staning would last another month. I had LAVH and gall bladder removed at the same time. The 6 holes on my tummy have a few stitches and the gyno surgeon said they look good and the outside stitches will disolve soon. Take a shower, put on Bacitracin and all will be good. Went to the gall bladder surgeon today and he said the 6 holes look terrible. Who closed me up. He started to pull and cut the outside stitches. It hurt like heck! I said stop. He could not figure out how I was stitched. But he cut all the stitches down and then put tape on them and said no showers and don't take the tape off. How could 2 surgeons who worked together be so opposite. I am furious! He pulled so hard on the stitches , I am worried he pulled the inside ones. Any of you have the small outside stitches? And did they disolve? And I was feeling so much better!!!

I know I just need to remember "recovery mode", I just talked with my sister, who had a TVH 5 years ago, and she was telling me they didn't even cut me open and she hurt like the dickens for months. She said they just get in there and move everything around and take out what they need, I had to laugh she is so graphic, but she has medical teaching background, so it doesn't affect her as it does me. I did venture out today, down to Walgreens, my first driving trip, I think my car was missing me. Felt very weird, like I hadn't drove in years instead of a week, of course I hadn't taken any vicodin since last night. I was exhausted after that, I am due to go back to work in 2 weeks, good thing I work for my sister

I had three outside cuts plus the one in my belly button. The sticthes in my bellybutton came out last night on their own, dissolved on the inside. The other three cuts still have the stitches in but they are getting slacker as time goes on. Hopefully they have fixed it for you now.

Good luck,

Thanks for the reply, Nelly. Yes, I thought the stitches would dissolve, but the gall bladder surgeon started cutting and pulling. What was I to do? I told him to stop. Now I have tape on all 6 holes. I will keep an eye on them.

Well, the day from Hell is slowly fading. I guess we are all having them. Seems like we've all made progress and now are hitting a brick wall, for whatever reason. I think, for me at least, it is possibly from some of the feeling returning to areas that had slight nerve damage during surgery. I have felt topical numbness from belly button to pelvic bone since surgery, and this seems to now be shrinking. Now I feel tugging pains internally when not wearing the 6" ace bandage for support. Guess I didn't realize the numbness was internal also maybe.

We can make it through this Sisters. It's gotta get better eventually. To those that are trying to still care for others and maintain a household and family, or are forced to work from sheer financial need, I say to you... you are a wonder! I don't know that I could do as much right now. My sincere support for you, and a compassionate . May the Powers That Be bless us all and give us strength to heal. Remember... we are women. Historically strong, loving, caring, able to bear great pain and suffering, ever enduring WOMEN!! Stay strong of heart and be kind to yourselves.
Blessed Be

Hi!
I had my vaginal hyst. the same day you did and I have the same kind of discharge, and also just use panty liners. I guess I should have mentioned it when I checked in on the phone with the nurse yesterday. I just assumed it was normal. I'm pretty sure it IS normal unless it's heavy or bright red. Kind of like after delivery...sort of the same discharge even. I don't think we need to worry about it. I do notice there is more if I'm doing more and am on my feet more. Also, I have to sit on a donut (even tho they didn't mention it) because sitting really gets painful! But I have not had ANY back pain since my hyst. and I had terrible back pain before! Good luck to you!
