I had to laugh, I am sorry. I am also sorry that you had to go through all of that. I hope you at least made a complaint about the nurse not checking the pump to make sure it was working. That is negligent....sorry, I am a nurse and if I had a patient who had a pain pump and was continuing to complain of pain, the first thing I would do is check the pump, if that was working I would definitely make the physician aware and see if there is something else you could get for pain. I was fortunate, I had a great nurse at night. I had a room to myself. They didn't bother me too much. I slept well.

I am sorry you are in pain. You just need to stick with the regimen you had set up when you left the hospital. For me, the percocet worked better in conjunction with ibuprofen. I was pretty much on top of the pain, I did have breakthrough that was manageable. I am still taking ibuprofen.

I am having more bleeding yesterday and today so I think I will call the doc. I don't want to go through the weekend liike this.

Good luck.

[quote=ladyfaith]Today was by far the worse or should I say almost the worse day I've had this far. Here I thought I was doing so well, I didn't think I needed the big pain meds anymore. Well I stop them and I could get out of bed this morning from the pain. My Dh said that it was to soon for me to stop taking the pain meds but I was feeling fine so I didn't take any and I cried most of the morning. It wasn't as bad as my hospital stay but it was bad. Oh my castle visit from hell I forgot to share that.

I am so sorry to hear about your castle visit from hell. Your roommate was probably having a bad reaction from her anesthesia but they probably should have moved either her or you!

I'm really responding to your pain situation though. I quit taking the "good" pain meds on about the same schedule as you did. I was in alot of pain the first few days but I was out and the DR on call wouldn't refill my prescription because she thought I should have been off them. I still don't know if the pain was all post op or more from gas and constipation. I can tell you that yesterday and today I am doing a little better. I ran out of demeral on Sunday, today is Friday so it took about 5 days to really feel reasonable - I still try to take my Ibuprofen 800 every 7 hrs and supplement with Tylenol. I think you should call your DR and just ask his/her opinion. Stay strong - you will get through this!

Ladies, Try taking GasX. I had tremendous pulling and pressure pains. I felt like I still had ovaries and they were growing, but my surgeon said it was all pockets of gas from where they blow your insides up. I had a LAVH and also had my gall bladder removed at the same time. Keep a positive attitude and try and move around. The gas X and the walking helped me, and I hope it will help you too!

Saw my doc today for my 2-week post-op. Turns out I had both endometriosis and adenomyosis, a small fibroid and lots of adhesions, plus my uterus was 160 grams (usual size is 60gms). The pictures showed the damage, he said it had been going on for years. I hadn't really had symptoms until 2004, so it just shows you how these things sneak up on you. Feeling good today, he said my bowel was stuck to my uterus so now that that is gone, my bowel will have a more movement in my abdominal cavity. Had a normal BM today, no major cramps - so I'm happy.
Good luck to you all!

Wow, our diagnosis seems very much the same. My fibroids were large and multiple. I also had many adhesions and things stuck together that didn't belong and the adenomyosis. My uterus was 184g. I have no idea what that equates to in pg size, but I can't wait for the swelly belly to subside so I can see if my tummy will be smaller.
Glad to hear you are recovering well.

I'm glad that you all got a laugh out of my experience. At least this was useful for something good other then pain. Purplefaery I'm not sure what the ladies problem was as I wasn't on the normal floor for woman with hysters another problem they had while I was out so I ended up on some follower with patients with heart conditions.

Athenafdm127 yeah it was negligent and I have written a long letter to the hospital concerning my entire stay and treatment while there.

Thank you all for encouragement I really needed it because I was feeling really low and in a lot of pain. And yes Carol1831 I've invested in gas-x. Chekmer glad your feeling better. Looking forward to that also.

Hey Sisters... I can relate to the adenomyosis diagnosis too. Doc said my uterus was a whopping 368 grams!! And I've never had any kids! Meaning the uterus is larger in women who've carried children.
Had my 43rd birthday yesterday, and I think I may have overdone it a little. Went out twice and had a lot of real food. Bigger portions than I've been used to, and of course cake with sugar that I don't eat a lot of. Gas is a little uncomfortable today and I'm a little tired, so taking it easy.
Doc is going to let me return to sedentary work as tolerated on Monday. I'm a little scared as to just how much I'll be able to tolerate. Going to take it easy, but I don't want to overdo and give myself a set-back. Also haven't driven myself as yet, but will work on that this weekend. Wish me luck! Continued healing and progress wishes to all!!!

Well Happy Belated birthday "Catsplusme" and just take it easy getting back to work, and with driving, its the bumps in the road that take my breath away. ouch!! My hospital stay was a piece of cake, so I guess I was blessed in that way, having a private room helped also, The hospital I was at has a wonderful Womens Center Wing, so you feel very pampered.
Does the Gas -X work?? My bowels are moving just fine now, but still having some gas pains, so I'm wondering if that would take some of the pressure off my tummy??
Has anyone invested in the swelly belly band?? When I go back to work on the 1st, I'm up and down at my desk all day, and I'm wondering if that might give me some support??

My first post. 10 days post op

Hi all. I had my surgery on 9/11. The surgery went pretty good and i'm glad I did it. Things have been surprisingly o.k. but lately I have been getting weird jabs and pains. My belly is swollen, and my bladder leaks every once in awhile. I'm possibley going back to work on Monday (not scheduled, just to do paperwork for a couple hours). I'm glad that this forum is here so i'm on the road to recovery one step at a time

Hello gals....this is my first post. This site helped me during my pre-op anxiety and answred soo many questions going into the surgery---thanks so much for all of you and your input!..My surgery was on Sept. 11. It was to be 1 1/2 hours long and instead it took 3 1/2 hours long. My 4 tumors were big and the biggest was the size of a soccer ball!.We named it Wilson(Castaway)...the doctor said he took his time becuz they were so deep inside of me....not a textbook surgery I'd say...I am feeling quite good..taking an occaissional pain pill...mostly in the afternoons and evenings. My big problem is INSOMNIA---boy oh boy--I've never had it b4!!
Last nite I woke up at 1:45 and went back to sleep at 4:30AM--I mean I am wide awake!..I started watching my TIVO'd shows cuz I was bored....I am not on any caffeine--I read on this site that it is pretty common--I hope it goes away soon...it is really a bummer....my incision is looking real good...it has steri-strips--staples are out--does anyone know how long one has the strips on??...is it 6 weeks?....I also do not like car rides...I took one and every bump and corner pulled me....not again for awhile!
that's all for now....
