No more anemia!! woo hoo!!

Wanted everyone to know that after about 20 years of anemia, verging on chronic, especially towards the end before my hyster, I now have normal blood counts.

Want to know why I'm jumping for joy, just because of normal blood counts? It's because anemia made me feel like about half a person. I wasn't just lazy or any other name people wanted to slap on me. I had no energy! No iron pill can fully help the lack of blood in your system. All it seemed to do towards the end, I think, was feed my uterus, which was already swollen and bleeding profusely.

Didn't think I'd come to tears after calling the doctor's office for the blood count results, but I did! Went around the entire day going, "I'm normal, I'm normal!"

My hysterectomy gave me a better life.

No more anemia!! woo hoo!!

Also, almost forgot, when talking to the doctor, who's a total sweetie and explains things to me, she said she had her own hysterectomy the year before! Hers was a cantaloupe, she said. I told her mine was a football, then we had a laugh about how they determine the size by weird objects.

Anyway, she was able to explain a few things about what went on that my ob/gyn wasn't able to. Like the pain I experienced that sent me to the hospital a month prior to the hyster was caused by birth control pills my ob/gyn put me on after a huge flooding incident. She said putting more estrogen into a large, bleeding fibroid was a big no-no. Of course, they didn't know I had the fibroid at that point, so I don't blame the ob/gyn. So glad I went back to my doc, even though I didn't have any complaints.

I am so glad to hear your story. It means there is hope for me. A bleeding fibroid the size of a cantalope will do that (mine too). Hopefully I'll be off iron pills in a couple of weeks. I hate them.
