I was vacuuming at 1 week post op. I think if you feel fine then go for it. Just be sure to stop if you start feeling tired or woozy.

Ask your doctor. My doctor says to vacuuming for six weeks period. And then it depends on how you are doing at your six week appointment. Since I was not doing well it was a for a very long time. Bummer!

I was started vacumming 3 days ago, im 4 and a half weeks post op TAH/BSO, i only did a bit and did not do the stairs but i found i was ok, just a little bit sore afterwards thats all. I should really have waited till my postop appointment on th 13th sept. Like the other said, it depends how you feel,

One more thing, we have a Dyson and it is so light weight that it is a breeze to use and manuever. I just realized that if I had my parents horribly heavy kirby - I wouldn't vacuum for maybe 2 months! lol

So it may depend on the vacuum you have.

I vacuumed 2 weeks post-op and was so wore out, I decided the carpets can stay dirty and if anyone complains I'll show them where the vacuum is. I would wait a while to do the cleaning, the house will be there but remember you have 1 chance to heal. HUGS!!!!!

Thank you, ladies! I have had the last of my checkups, so I was not sure. I am feeling pretty good, but I have been looking at this carpet that had not been taken care of for several weeks and it WAS so BOTHERING me! My DH took care of it and the stairs and now I am feeling better!

I will do it next time and see how I am. We have a pretty light weight vacuum cleaner. DH has been so great about taking care of everything else that vacuuming had come in last. I so enjoy this board and the knowledge of our ladies!
