I had surgery on the 14th also!
I'd say stay home in the quiet and let everyone else go camping. I'm going crazy staying home. I think it would be much worse stuck in a little trailer for the weekend.

I totally agree with floppyears! I wouldn't try it. The 2 hour drive might set you back. It will still be there in a few weeks when you are feeling much better.

Thank you so very much both Floppyears4me and CaJen!! I am going to talk to my hubby when he calls me at lunch. I just really don't want to mess this up, and so want to be back as "me" again.

How are you both combatting the boredom? Since you are both at the same timeframe I am at, are you doing anything with your incisions? To be perfectly honest, I have an extremely difficult time even looking at mine. I had kidney surgery when I was 8, and already had a scar from hip bone to hip bone (well below belly button), and now it is almost as I have a naval anchor on my tummy. I have to think, with this - who needs a midlife tattoo ... lol ... I try to get the laughs in when I can. On one hand I feel so very fortunate that they found it, got it out, it appears to be clear of cancer, and I have insurance --- on the other hand, I can't stop thinking about the other side of my reality - a month w/out pay, the house slowly going down, and (as I have heard others talk about) folks thinking that this is an easy 6 week vacation. Sorry, whining again.

Perceptionist,

I went to the doc for my two week post op of TAH-I complained of brain fog and my doc said the same thing-he had never heard of that. Suggested anti-depressent or MRI. I want neither. It didn't happen before surgery so I have to believe it is hormonal. You are not alone!

mzmrrizme,

Yes, it is hard to just sit here. I am bored out of my mind. I have watched enough tv to last me for the rest of the year. LOL It helps to be able to dabble on the computer. But, I know what can happen if I try anything too soon. I have a friend who had a hyst a year ago. She decided that she was well enough at 2 weeks along to do a bit of laundry. A few days later she had a fever and they found a hematoma. She almost had to go back into surgery to remove it. Instead she was put on complete bed rest until it disolved. Knowing something like this can happen has kept me from doing too much. I am going to take it slow so I can heal right and not have any complications. As far as my incision...I don't know what you mean...do you mean if I do anything with it to help it heal quicker? I keep it clean with peroxide or Betadine. My Dr stressed over and over not to touch it. He has said that so much, now I am scared to touch it. LOL He said I can pass staff infection from my fingers. I do know how you feel. I want to get up and clean my house so bad! I never thought I would say that. Just take care of yourself, in a few weeks you will be glad you did!

I had a one week post-op too, with a 4-week follow up from that date. My surgery was on the 13th and I can relate to most of what everyone is going through. We all need to stop trying to be our usual super-selves and relax! It is sooooo hard for me, but my body makes me pay for it if I do too much.

Call the drs and spoke to the nurse about the pain on the right side and they want me to come in. I go in tomorrow at 11. My wound is also really red and swollen on each side so I think there may be a problem. I will keep you all posted.

Just curious, did your doctor tell you that the strips would "fall off" ?? My doctor put the strips on when the staples came out, and then said that I had to wait 5 days to get it wet and the strips would "fall off" and then I could take off what didn't fall off. Problem is, none of them have even slightly pulled away from the skin. I didn't know if I should call his office, or just wait this out a bit longer. No big irritation as of yet (knock on wood).
