Both my ovaries are gone and I'm on HRT. I use the Vivelle dot patch which is the size of a postage stamp. It helps some but I still experience hot flashes daily, some days are better than others. The mood swings are about gone and I haven't experienced any cold flashes yet. I hope I don't. Check with your Dr. and see what he will do.

Kathy,

I looked up endocrinologists in my area just in case my dr is hard headed about this. I think that is wise on your part to find a specialist since you have the other issues. I highly, highly recommend Vliet's book Women, Weight, and Hormones. She talks about thyroid also. It is very informative and helped me to have a plan of action for when my time comes to go on HRT. The right hormone balance can make a huge differnce in how you feel and cope with life. I don't want to settle for mediocre, I want to feel good!

Both my ovaries are gone and I'm on HRT too. I'm on enjuvia in pill form. It has really helped with the hot flashes but not the insomina. I take sleep aid and do sleep. I'm still adjusting to the new level and maybe after I'm adjusted I'll sleep better. The hot flasher and irritablity are terrible without HRT. I wish you well.

I have heard great things about Vivelle-Dot. I think this is the one I am going to try first. I hope it works for me! I like the fact that it is bio-identical.

Kathy,

Maybe cream or a patch might work better for you.

Jennifer,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll go get that book. I could use some insight. Having the right hormone balance will make a huge difference. My obgyn is good but I think an specialist will be better. They will be better with detail. I sure I will feel better when I'm balanced. Thanks again for the suggestion. I really appreciate it.

Sorry I hit my respones 3 times my computer was acting up. Anyway I'm seeing the obgyn in week and half and will descuss the options with her if enjuvia is not working well. The imbalance is tough. Bioidenicals are diffently on my list. Thanks for those thoughts, Kathy

Thanks everyone for your relies about HRT. It is complicated, and I have not read that book (maybe it's in the library ?) I just get so tired from not sleeping as a direct result of the night sweats. I have a call into my doc, so I will question him. I wish I could find a specialist. What would the name of the specialist be called besdies OB/GYN?
