Stairs and adhesions?

We do have to be careful and follow the instructions given to us by our doctors. I can say that I live in a two story house. Because of complications I didn't walk up or down the stairs for a few weeks -- I was carried. Then it was up once a day and down once a day, very slowly. Gradually things got back to normal but for me it took a long time. The stairs were not a because of the actual surgery, though my doctor didn't want me running up and down them after surgery regardless, but because of the complications that put me at risk for passing out on them and falling.

I just had a laparoscopy last week, seven years post hysterectomy, for excision of endometrosis and lysis of any adhesions -- those of us with endometriosis can have adhesions from the endometriosis irregarless of other issues. Various adhesions were found and removed but I was not "full of adhesions." Was it because I had to be so careful those first three months after surgery? Don't know. Was it because my body is one that is not greatly susceptible to adhesions? Don't know. Was it because I had an excellent GYN? Maybe!

As mentioned above, there are a lot of theories about adhesions and there is a lot that is unknown. Some people are found to have adhesions when they have their very first surgery. Others have multiple surgeries and adhesions don't seem to be an issue. For some of us adhesions hurt, for others they don't.

It is wise to know about adhesions, be aware that you can over do it, and try to follow your doctors instructions for you! But try not to stress about them or borrow trouble.

Happy healing and try not to worry about the what ifs as long as you are taking care of you as your doctor suggests! If you ever have concerns, ask your doctor! s

Stairs and adhesions?

I also have stairs. My dr told me it was o.k. to do the stairs, just try to limit it. I had to go up and down the stairs, it was inevitable. I did not have any problems. So I think it is fine as long as you take it slow and try to limit the amount of times in one day.
