Hair Struggles

Does anyone have any suggestions for (beside cutting) hair that is normaly down to your buttocks and post-op?

My hair is a rat's nest and get stuck under me causeing me to strain and tighten my abdomin muscles. If I pony or bun it up, I can't lay my head flat.

Have you tried french braiding your hair? I either left mine with nothing in it and spread out over my pillow (so it was not under me) or I kept it braided.

I hear ya, mine is not that long and is a big old rats nest. PLEASE DO NOT CUT IT... your upset right now and might regret doing so. I have learned to do my buns higher. Basicly on top of my head and not towards the back. Also, I have a friend come and french braid it for me, SINCE I AM LAME and can't figure it out on my own. Also i put alot of leave in Conditioner in my hair so it also helps when the water hits my hair, most of the tangles come out. Good luck sweetie, take care

I cut mine every two years for donation, otherwise I'd've cut it (it grows back, folks!!). The first week I kept it in two braids, so I could lie flat.

I wouldn't cut it -- unless you've been looking for an excuse to cut it. I had long hair down to my butt years ago, but I looked for an excuse to cut mine, but I know that may not be what you want to do. Anyhoo... when I had really long hair, I'd buy that kids detangler spray. It was wonderful for when I'd get those awful rats nests in my hair. A couple of times, also, when I wanted to not fuss with my hair, I had a friend of mine do a bunch of corn rows (braiding my hair all over), then I could pull it back into one giant ponytail, or leave it alone. It was great not to have to fool with it during that time.

Hopefully your abdominal pain will be easier soon. I had no problem after the middle of the 2nd week and was able to sleep on my side and sit up on the bed without holding on finally then. I'm in my 4th week now and I feel thisclose to normal again.
