time in hospital?

Hi to all post op ladies,

I was told I would be in the castle for 24 to 48 hrs. depending on my recovery level. I was surprised to find this that short. When I had my Lap. I was out an hour later and sicker than a dog, low fever etc. i don't want to leave my castle walls unless I'm ready. So I was just wondering, what the poll would read.

Hospital stay

Hi There,

I had my TAH on June 12th and came home Friday morning on the 15th. I know the feeling about being bored !!! My wonderful family WILL NOT LET ME DO ANYTHING !!!!!! They are watching me like a hawk. My wonderful DH goes in with me to the DD appts so I can not lie and tell him I can do something. I have been released to drive but still don't. It hurts too much to even sit in the passenger side and I can't imagine being in the driver's seat and having to hit the brakes quickly !!!

Take care and it does get better

time in hospital?

Hi Ladies, I had my tah/bso on Monday a.m and came home Thursday a.m instead of Wednesday due to a fever. I am almost 4 weeks post and yesterday my incision started to get sore. I'm going to put a damp warm towel on it and see if that helps. I haven't done anything that I shouldn't have except I been sitting a lot. Betty Ann

time in hospital?

Hi, Princess Tina!

I was at the castle for 6 days only because there were complications after surgery. My surgery itself went very well. My DD even said that for a very routine hysterectomy my recovery was sure not routine. I developed fluid in my lungs and my kidneys didn't want to work. Fortunately, they were right on top of things there at the castle!

time in hospital?

Hi --

Had a TAH/BSO/Appendectomy which started at 1230P on Monday, 6/25 (3 hour surgery) and went home on Thursday, 6/28 in the evening. Still felt like a wet noodle, but it was oh, so much better at home in my own bed.

Hope this helps...

time in hospital?

Hi,

I had a LAVH/LSO on 6/27 and came home late the next day. I felt ready to come home. The pain was not bad and I could get around fairly good.

I had my right ovary removed in April as outpatient and was not ready to come home at all. A few hours is not long to recover. I felt that the lap was worse than the hyst. I don't think that I was as prepared for the lap. My Doctor talked like it was not a major thing and I would be up and going right after it. I knew with the hyster. that I would be down for a while.

I believe the main thing then and now is how tired I get.

I didn't think that 1 day would be enough before the surgery but it turned out okay. I've read several posts where the doctor requested additional days if you feel that you need them. I would definitely request them if you need them.

I have had a low grade fever for a week now. My doctor says that it is normal after a major surgery.

Waiting is definitely the hardest part. I am just sitting back taking life easy now! Enjoying my time off.

Hope everything goes well for you!

time in hospital?

My insurance only allows 1 day for a vaginal hyst. I thought, yeah right!. I went in on Friday and was released Saturday afternoon. I felt fine and didn't need any more time. The insurance allows 2 days for TAH--I think that would have been a lot harder.
After reading so many posts, I truly feel I have been blessed. I have had no pain, never
took any pain meds. I had my surgery 5/18 and still get tired easily, but I expected that.

Had surgery on Monday 7/2 @ 3:00p.m. Left hospital Wed. 7/4 @3:00. I would have loved another day in the hospital, although now that I'm home that's been good. Jane

time in hospital?

My DD told me 3 days in the hospital (I was having tvh and bladder repair). Nobody told me this didn't include the actual day of the surgery! Well anyways, I went in on Monday morning at 6:30 and came home Thursday at 6pm ish. Urologist said I could stay one more day since my insurance wasn't in any rush for me to go but, I chose to come home rather than pay for another day. In hind site.....maybe I should have stayed the extra night.....even hospital food was better than what my hubby fixed (beans and weenies and PB&J....YUCK!).
