shaving/waxing

I'm scheduled for a vaginal hyster. Should I shave/wax my pubic area? Also - will I have post-surgical vaginal bleeding and need pads?

shaving/waxing

Hi Leah,
My OB shaved me right before surgery...she said she would rather do it to make sure I didn't nick myself or anything like that.
I had spotting on and off for about 5 weeks but only enough for a mini pad.
I also had a TVH. Some women have had bleeding and some haven't. If you think of anything else please feel free to ask more questions.
Take care

Hi!

If you don't usually shave or wax that area, you shouldn't do anything differently. If your doctor wants the area shaved, it will be done for you at the hospital, more than likely after you have already been sedated. A quick call to your doctor's office is all that it will take to know what your doctor's orders are.

You may or may not experience post-op bleeding so it's a good idea to have some pads and/or panty liners on hand just in case they're needed. Your hospital will probably supply some for you while you're there.

Best wishes for your surgery!

shaving/waxing

I shaved two weeks before my surgery, well trimmed down to a buzzcut anyway. It gave me two weeks to grow out any irritations, and other problems, and the length was optimal for my surgery. I also have a line of hair going down my abdomen, which I also trimmed. But, as for shaving, no you should not shave the night before or two days before or something. If you cut yourself or develop irritations, that could cause your surgery to be effected... if you need shaving, you will be shaved probably after you are sedated, as it has been said.

The only reason I did what I did, is I knew what my doctor wanted from previous experience, and had worked out how to do it in a way that I found acceptible and cobvenient and workable...

They didn't shave me for my surgery. (I do always keep it well groomed, but not shaved.)

As for the pads...I didn't have any bleeding or spotting after suregry. ..I did use liners for the first few weeks, just in case.

BEST WISHES
