LAVH on Sept 25th, kept ovaries. No carrying of grocery bags. Doing the laundry by handfuls, hasn't been bothering me. Light housework and cooking. I am going to the store, walking slow. Unfortunatly slipped on the wet deck yesterday. No damage except a sore back today.
I have been fortunate no spotting at all yet. My swelling seems to go up and down a bit, but I can wear my jeans. Abs get sore at times. The gas also still comes and goes. Finally my bowels are becoming a bit normal. Some cramping and back aches. Managed the last few days with only a few doses of ibuprofen. Wanted to take the advice and start walking. But it has rained for days here and been chilly. So hopefully in the next day or two.
Wanted to attempt some form of sex the other night. But instead had a great make out session. I was very happy with that. And that will keep me going for bit longer.
Return to doc on 10/31. Back to work 11/7. UGH! Scared to death because I do physical therapy and depending on how debilitated my patients are, I may have to do alot of lifting. It really scares me.

Is walking the only safe exercise we can do right now? I have a stationary bike and an eliptical that I used everyday before surgery---now what can I do?

I have a stationary bike, and my doctor said not til after six weeks. Walking only. Ask your doctor, but from all I can gather, walking is the only safe exercise that won't do damage. Kitty

Butterfly, My visiting nurse said 8 weeks. go with what your doctor said, don't do yourself damage which might take even longer to heal.

Hi, Sandi!

I also am having bladder spasms. My surgery was 9/18/07 and the bladder pain started in the hospital. I had a total hysterectomy...lymph nodes, ligaments, etc. and was diagnosed with Endometrial cancer, stage 2. The doctor saved my life and was wonderful. I am seeing a urologist for the bladder pain and am going to a specialist. My gynecologist thinks I may have a mild case of "Interstitial Cystitis". You can "google" it. Meanwhile, I am going to an accupuncturist twice a week for the bladder pain and it has helped me dramatically. I am a nurse (with a PhD) and did not believe in accupuncture. However, it has reduced my pain tremendously. I am off all pain meds, but it still spasms when I urinate.

Thanks, Rita 1957

Hello there, I had my uterus removed 12 months ago, it was good until 4 months after the surgery I have been experiencing very bad back pain. I thought it must be the air condition or cold that is causing all this pain. When I travell in the car after a long drive, I couldnt stand up straight and my back is really killing me. But the only good thing is, now I can enjoy my husband again in bed because I don't feel any pain when we have sex. I will be visiting my doctor this month and it's just the thought of paying alot of medical costs that worries me. Am not sure if I can belive any more doctors. That is the main reason I have joined up with Hyster Sister, at least the doctors can not lie to me, when I can gain more knowledge from this forum.

I had a LAVH on 25 Sep. Was doing everything by the book. Listening to my body. I rested. I'm back to work now and on day 1 (Mon 15 Oct) started to bleed. Had been spotting a bit but nothing that a pany liner, maybe 2, each day would absorb. Now...not so...it's like I'm having a regular period. I did carry groceries in the other day but not the heavy bags, just the light ones. I have also done other things but nothing felt difficult and I've been careful not to lift much. I walk quite a bit. I did try a very easy recumbant bike ride (wide seat) for almost 20 minutes this past Sunday. I'm worried that the bike ride "did it" or that coming to work wasn't the right option. I had little choice. My off-time allowance was about to expire. Ugh. I took someone's advice and called the doc this a.m. A nurse is supposed to call me back.
