I miss sleeping on my tummy too! I've tried it a couple of times and it totally feels weird. When I wake up I try to stretch and that still hurts too! I was hoping those things wouldn't be difficult---although it is getting easier everyday! (a little)

Hi Piker53
Firstly a happy belated birthday.. Sorry to hear of the accident with your loving puppy, I hope that all has improved. By the looks of it I had my TAH 3 days before you. I have had several hassles but very slowly things are improving. My dilemia I am having is if on the occasion I need strong pain relief I need to up the dosage of softener so there is no straining. My wound had opened and after daily dressings and antibiotics as I got a staph infection, it finally stopped weeping and closed.
I have also managed to find by accident away that my bladder issues have eased a little, I am now taking my blood pressure meds in the evening as there also a fluid tablet.
I see my specialist on the 12th of Nov for a checkup and have many questions for them.
The major thing that is frustrating me at the moment is one day I might find I feel ok and do things then later on in the day I am totally exhausted, which carries through to the following day.
Can anyone tell me when will I have my full energy back?
And I have learn't in away not to overdo it.
As it still hurts sometimes.
Regards to all
Sandy

Like Ive said before I was forced back to work at 3 weeks postopt and Im still very tired at the end of the day whether I work 6 hours or the full 12 hour shift some days I come home and cry because it is to much so please take it slow at work rest is still important for your recovery I hate to see anyone else in the kind of pain that I am still in after 6 weeks.

I'm so sorry helpat409 that you had to return to work so soon. I can't imagine having to do that. I'm just a housewife and I know that I have overdone it quite a few times. It always seems like you pay for it the next day. I thought I would of been feeling pretty good by now but three weeks after the surgery I was in severe mouth pain so I had to go to the dentist where they found a fracture in my bridge. Had to be put on two antibiotics because the infection got into the bone. plus was given more vicodin for the pain I was in. Well they are trying to get me past the six week post op before I have to go through oral surgery. So this is how my recovery has been. Hope everybody else keeps inproving.

I'm at five weeks last Tuesday. Saw the specialist (gyn-Onc) on Wed. and he said he was pleased with my healing.

Sounds like I'm lucky... or persistent. I've been sleeping on my side since I came home from the hospital, with a small pillow under the bulk of my tummy. About two weeks ago I rolled over on my tummy after my hubby went to work and I was comfortable enough to relax, but not sleep. That's usually what I do on my tummy anyway, just relax and flex my back.

Anyway, doctor said he was pleased with my healing, but internally I still have some healing to do and I'm still on restriction for another two weeks. He wants to see me in three months for the cancer check up.

Get this, I asked when I can lift my 20# grandbaby and he said 3-4 weeks, but I can cheat a little. I'm not to sure how to take that. To lift the toddler, he said two weeks longer than that. I was hurting yesterday, I think I should have worn my tummy band to Pittsburgh, even though I didn't have any pain Wed. cause even today, I'm hurting.

Well, that's it for me. I'm glad I'm feeling good, but sure wish you all were also. Kitty

I have a question for anyone out there? Had my surgery on the 27th of sept. Today I did the most and was out shopping and doing errands for about six hours. I truly felt at the last stop I was getting really weak and about to pass out. I don't sleep much since the surgery and she doesn't want to put me on hormones because of the blood clot factor. Meaning alot of people in my family have had blood cloots. I just thought at about five weeks I should be feeling alot better by now. Well thanks for listening I think alot of my family members don't realize what my body has been through.

5 1/2 week check up...

Well, I saw my Ob/gyn today for my "back to work check up". I have been feeling really well, and have been very careful to take it easy and not rush things, so I was excited to go and get my "release" to do all of the things that I have not done for the last 5 1/2 weeks. Well...although I was told that I "look great" and am healing "perfectly", evidently I am not "healed" well enough internally! So I was told no heavy lifting, no exercise, and no sex for 2 more weeks. At that point I can start easing my way back into things, but if I start having pain or discomfort, I need to back off and listen to my body. I'm going to listen to my doctor and do the right things, but I am just SO disappointed that I still have restrictions.

I told him that I went to the outlet mall with my mother in law yesterday and walked around for a few hours and that last night I had some discomfort. He said that was totally normal but it was my body's way of saying it was not ready for that. Well, I work at a hospital and I am on my feet walking to see patients for 8-10 hours a day and I am supposed to go back to work next Thursday! I asked him if I was ready for that and he said "yes" just listen to your body and try to take breaks. Before surgery, I usually didn't even have time to pee, let alone take a break, so I am not sure how I am going to do that. He did go on to say, that if I found it to much after I got back to work, just to call him and he would call and take me off for a little longer. Luckily, he works at the same hospital that I do and he is well known and respected, so if I needed to be off again, I think the hospital would be more ammeniable if it came from him instead of just me. At least I hope so.

I'll let you know how it goes with work next week.

Speedy recovery to all the other princesses out there!

Well I guess with hardly any other posts going on everyone is feeling pretty good. I on the other hand am trying to do the things slowly that I use to do and I get extremely tired. Will be going to the doctor next week for six week check up.

I'm sorry to hear you're still so tired Mariam. I was very tired before the hyst due to blood loss. I've had hardly any blood loss since the hyst, so I'm gaining strength. I realized today that I haven't felt well since a year or more due to anemia.

I hope you get your energy back soon. I've gotten in the habit of sitting around and laying around due to the blood loss, so I'm having to force myself to do MORE, rather than feeling like I don't have the energy to do what I want to do.

What I'm having trouble with is a larger appetite. I can't seem to stop eating. Kitty
