My surgery was four hours on Tuesday and I came home on Friday.
I feel pretty good today. So glad to be home with my family! Although it is so tough not being able to pick up my 10 1/2 month old baby girl!

I feel the same way about my daughter's baby boy who is six months old and I have babysat him exclusively while she works, goes to school and remodels her house. I just have to keep remembering the warnings I have read here about small tears inside might cause adhesions.

Another daughter of mine had adhesions and had to have a surgery to cut her insides apart where they weren't supposed to be connected. and according to all I've read, sometimes those adhesions Can't be separated, two Vital organs are adhered to closely, I imagine.

Adhesions are extremely painful and could affect your quality of life forever in a severe case. I decided It is better to wait six weeks. ask your doctor at what point it would be safe to have your daughter placed on your lap on a pillow to cuddle. although at 10 months, she might object to that. LOL

I'm still working on pain management. I feel better at times like I'm over the hump and then bam waited to long. Slept horrible last night. I definitely can identify with the bowel and bladder issues. I pee frequentlyl cause it hurts if I let it go to long. Not a stinging but in my bladder/tummy area. And the smallest bit of gas pain about doubles me over, not to mention an actual bowel movement. I had not idea this was such a common problem.
I'm also find myself worrying about the endometriosis. I didn't know I had it until I came out of surgery. They ruled me out about 5 years ago and no one has mentioned it since. I'm worried it's going to come back. He said it was on my ovaries and he cauterized what was there. This has been a hard adjustment for me.
Guess I need to take a deep breath.

Hi, girls I'm back, will at least I hope I am. Had quite a few complications so I am just now home (had surgery last Monday 9-24-07). Good news even though the surgery was almost four hours, I was able to keep my ovaries. The daoc told my family that he never saw a uterus and tubes as bad as mine. My complications arose from the Mentor Asis Polyproplene Mesh that was implanted nine months ago. I knew it has eroded through my vaginal wall, but it also had eroded through my bladder. Then I when on to have complications from the general (fever 104 and above for five days) and a severe bladder infection. Never was so glad to get the packing and cathater out...... Even with all the IV's I am seventeen pound less than the day they weighed me for surgery, oh ya and I have yeast infection in my mouth and throat from the heavy duty antibiotics they gave me, but believe it or not. I feel that I have more room in my pelvis then I did when I was sixteen. 25 years of Ob/GYN problems, I may have wished I listed to the doc and had it done years ago.. The Doc is really hopefull that my ovaries will recover from the surgery.... me too because if this fever is anything like a hotflash I will just die...

My baby is teething and she sleeps on a pillow on my lap. She is so glad that I'm home. She is only 17 pounds and can tell that I'm in pain so she has been very careful with me. I refuse to undo all the work that the doctor did to fix me all up so she has to cry until someone will put her on my lap. I had a bladder repair, hysterectomy, and mini-adminophlasty. I'm praying that I'm good as new by Thanksgiving. I'm already so thankful that I'm not cramping and bleeding this week!!

Oh Butterfly I'm so glad things are working out for you. I love to watch them sleep. I had my surgery a week ago today and the doctor told me to go home and do nothing, so I haven't even taken the chance on holding my grandson if someone will hand him to me. he is a handful and flops around alot trying to do more at 6 months, so I am being good. I can't wait til next week when I will hopefully be able to have him handed to me, especially if he is sleepy and I can just hold him. Kitty

Hi all just a check in, well after a week and a day later I am at times moving around a bit better, but when the pain is bad its bad. Its so nice to be a member of this group, as I after reading some the posts on gas/wind pains I now know I am not going nuts. While I was in hospital there was one night there that I was doubled over with gas pains and in tears I honestly thought they were like contractions. The only thing that gave me some relief was a large does of morphine to help me rest.
Now that I am home I am not getting the gas pain so much now but I am still having a lot of pain using my bowels, I have already tried a herbal softener, prescribed syrup, and at least half a 250g packet of prunes, with straining some success but not a lot. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. And for the plumbing well its working when it wants to work.
We are changing the dressing daily as the centre of the wound is weeping, and found all the bruising is coming out, so as I mentioned in previous post then I would hate to imagine what the internal bruising was like.
Will just be glad when all is normal again.
I just feel a little down today as I am normally a very independant woman and don't normally nap in the afternoon, well all that has changed, and I don't like it. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Girls am I going nuts??? or are there others out there who feel the same???

On Tuesday, the 25th, I had my surgery...a vaginal hyst. I had to stay an extra day in the hospital as my Dr. perforated my bladder during the procedure. I am so gllad to have my uterus out now, I can already feel the relief of it gone, but I am still dealing with a lot of pain related to my 'nicked bladder.' I see my Dr tomorrow. He put me on a lot of pain meds and I would like to get off them because they make me so nauseated and tired. What is everyone else taking? I am interested to know how long one has to be on pain meds after a hyst.

I'm taking Norco 10mg. It makes me tired too. Sometimes if I haven't eaten enough I get upset stomach but the getting rid of the pain is more important to me. I take Ibrofen at two hours after the Norco. I feel like I'll be on them forever. Tuesday has only been a week! So we are doing good right because it has only been 1 week! We can do it!
