I am praying for you

You poor thing, LOVESTORUN! I went through a post surgery ordeal myself when I was just 15 years old and I know the turmoil. Ileus is a major complication, and so is passing lg. blood clots. Any clot bigger than a golf ball is reason for the doc to see you. I hope you get answers today, and please advocate for yourself. Take your 2 yr old w/you and send the 9 yr old to school. They both need a healthy mom. Maybe this is reason enough for your dh to stay home a day. Please pamper yourself. Let us know how you're doing.

TAH October 2

Am now 2 weeks Post Op from TAH Oct 2. The one hour procedure took 2.5 hours because of all the scarring and endometriosis. They wanted to remove my cervix but it is attached to my bladder and bowel by endo. Surgeon said it was challenging but there should be no complications. I want to suggest that people visit a naturopath before surgery. My naturopath put me on a regiment of vitimins and minerals (my surgeon approved me taking them pre-op) that insured I didn't catch an infection and that my recovery would be smooth - so far so good! The naturopath is also helping with my decisions around HRT. I refused estrogen from the surgeon for now. Have tested my sex hormone levels pre-op and will test again in two weeks post-op. Hopefully my adrenal glands will make up for my cystic ovaries. Have found that you need more then just a surgeon or a family doctor to get the best care and advice - a naturopath and a good chiropractor - and sisters who have also been through it - help with the real recovery. Anyway, am doing good for 2 weeks post-op with some hot flashes/night sweats that I expected.

I could not agree with you more! I have been to natropathic docs for various things and believe in them wholeheartedly. I believe that all medicines have there place, I feel many people go to MD's for things that just bewilder the docs but the naturopath seems to get to the source in a very short time. You have to be your own doc and educate yourself and try to make wise decisions. Happy healing!

2007 - Hysterectomy Oct 01, 2007 - Oct 08, 2007

I called the doctors office and they have told me to just wait and come in on Friday unless I have uncontrollable bleeding. So, again, I feel put off and frustrated. I will just have to hang in there and hope for the best.

heres2me - night sweats! I was starting to get them before the TAH because I had my left ovary removed 7 years earlier, but not like I had last night, from 5 am on until I gave up and got out of bed. They have been hitting me hard all day now, even with an ice pack on my swelly belly. I'm only 42 and WOW, am I hot!
Hugs.

in pain

lovestorun, hang in there, sweetie and keep coming here to cry and complain. That's what we're here for!
calgary, I too support naturopaths. I think that there is a place for them and have seen friends do very well while receiving care from them.

On another note, I am sad to report that I need to see a general surgeon now for my very painful behind pain. I've got an internal hemmie that's caused problems right before surgery, but is very bad and very painful now. I think the pressure from swelling (rectocele repair) may be contributing, but this pain is worse than the pain from my hyster. I am very very scared right now. I had surgery for this problem in '02, and the recovery nearly sent me running in front of the nearest truck. I sent my dh and kids away for days, as I didn't want them to see me in that horrid condition. I will see the doc on Monday for a consult. Wish me luck. My poor body can't deal w/much more. WHAAAAAA! Thanks for the tips on my poor appetite too. You wouldn't be hungry if you were me, either.

recovering two weeks in

Two weeks today and not feeling too bad. Had some bladder infection trouble and constipation. The latter seemed to be cured with a soft diet to include yogurt. Still have some puffy tummy which I found a velcro band. Helps for bumpy car rides. One disappointment, I was so sure I would have lost at least a couple pounds considering they removed everything, but i weigh the exact same as the day of surgery. I guess i had too much expectation, or i just have to wait for swelling to go away. Anyone have input on that? This is my first post and have gotten some very helpful info from the site. Thanks

Perhaps you are retaining a bit of water. I've lost ten pound since the surgery but I also feel crappy. I haven't gotten back to normal meal sizes yet. I just don't have any appetite. I'm sure once I get it back I'll put them all back on again.

I have a question for you ladies. I have to go to the dentist tomorrow. Any ideas how I can be comfortable in the chair? I was thinking about taking an ice pack for my belly and some pillows to put under my knees. Do you think this will work? Or have you got any better ideas?

Pam
