I thought it was just me, too.

Isn't it wonderful that we have this site in which to commiserate? How would we know anything without it?

Northof49...no, the mistake was mine. I typed the wrong word. Wishful thinking, maybe, that I could ever walk 2.5 hours.

I'm starting to imagine a whole group of us shuffling along, being overtaken by another group of sprightly old ladies!

Today is the first day of itching...oy vey!
Just on the left side, where the ovarie USED to be.
Its inside itching, grrrrrrr, how uncomfortable.

I'm moving around well. Although it is very evident that different times of the day are better than others. Still had to lay down three times yesterday, "just to lay the tummy flat".
Anyone else feel that way?

I went to Michael's the other day, stayed too long and then had to crawl in bed when I got back home. Ouch!

Funny thing was, when I was walking in behind this very, very pregnant woman, older in her forties, she was waddling, I was walking gingerly and we were going the same speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha! It seemed like a movie... in walks the uterus with baby about to drop and then in walks the no uterus, no ovaries, etc... looks the same on the outside.

I hope I am posting right. I just found this site yesterday and I wish I had found it sooner. I submitted one post yesteday but received a message saying it was in the wrong place and it belonged in the post op forum. So I hope I am doing it right today! I had a total abdominal hyst on 10-5-07. I had been feeling pretty good. I had even been walking on my treadmil for 30 minutes a day. Then yesterday I developed a terrible backache. I still have it this morning. Now of course I am concerned about this, and I am just sure I caused some problem. My doctor had told me to walk but he never said how much or how often. I sure hope there was no limit. I read an article on here about adhesion formation and that has scared me like crazy. I think for 2 reasons. #1 I am really anxious. #2 I have had alot of pain with constipation and trouble with bowel movements. My doctor told me this is due to the fact that my left ovary was completely glued to my left descending colon area because of endometriosis. He had difficulty separating it for removal and said there were alot of adhesions there. So now of course when I read on this site that too much or overdoing it can cause adhesions (which I never had heard of before the bowel issues) really made me nervous! Wow sorry this post is so long but I really look forward to hearing from some of you who seem to know how this all feels. Thanks in advance for your help and support.

I've always wondered if the theory... too much too fast in the healing process can cause adhesions.... is just an old wives tale. I've not seen anything in the research about this.

*** IN addition: Surgeons now use something called Suprafilm or similar name and this is placed on top of your surgery sites, layed in there like a little blanket, then the intestines are replaced back in the abdomen. This way, adhesions are never to occur because they cant grow thru the Suprafilm.

I read my surgical notes from the hospital and I have that, even though I never had adhesions. Its used as a precaution and my bet is that we all have it, unless our doctor is an old fart who shouldn't be cutting on us to begin with.

So, It sounds like you pulled a muscle or strained a muscles in your back. Ice, rest, gentle stretches for three days, then walking gently starting slow about ten minutes a day, add five minutes next day, and two days later add five more. Something like that.

Thank you Icre8art! I did not know any of that. I will ask my doctor about the suprafilm. How did you get a copy of your surgical notes? I have been resting my back today and plan to continue. The idea of waiting a few days to get back on the treadmill makes good sense. The idea that I may not have done major damage internally/adhesion wise also really makes me feel better. Thanks so much!!
