A real treat! Get a massage ladies!

Ok....you ladies have got to give it a try if you are able.....GET A MASSAGE! I had a friend come over this weekend to help me with my housework. She worked her butt off...vacuuming, washing floors, bathrooms, kitchen, the full house! So, I treated her to a massage at a spa and I booked one for myself. It was amazing! It was the first time I have really been able to relax since my surgery! In fact, I've had some pains in my back and right shoulder as I've been compensating due to the lack of strength in my abdominal muscles and the pain just seemed to float away! I was able to lay on my belly with the aid of an ice pack but the masseur was willing to do it on my side if need be. Also, when I got off the bed, I think it was the first time I was able to stand up straight without any discomfort in my belly!

I highly recommend it to everyone! (I've booked myself in for next Saturday too!)

If you are asking me, I am 38 and therefore don't think I am close to menopause. However, I had been experiencing hot flashes even before my TAH. After surgery, I was soaking the sheets 2x a night. Thankfully that has stopped last week.

Your dr. sounds more in tune to the hormone fluctuations than mine was. She seemed to think that I should be pretty even as I had kept my ovaries. I am glad I know and accept my body.

Hi ladies,
It's Sunday and I can honestly say I've had 3 days in a row where I've felt really good! No tiredness, no pain, and no shuffling when I walk. Maybe things really are starting to get better.

I admit that I have done almost nothing. My husband won't let me. He makes sure I have my spot on the couch and my knitting and the remotes.

The most strenuous thing I've done lately is make cookies. The beating by hand was the toughest work I've done in weeks.

Oh, I did have a slight problem during the night. I'm still sleeping only two hours at a time. I got up around 1am and went to the bathroom. As soon as I finished I got a funny feeling - I think it was bladder spasm but I'm not sure. When I got back to bed I got an urgent urge to pee again. And I had only taken, like, ten steps from the toilet. I got up and went again. It hasn't happened again and things seem to be fine today but I will watch for that again.

But so far so good. Hope you're all doing well, too.

Go Red Sox!

i have been feeling good the past few days, and even did a bit of shopping at a small mall saturday, bought the kids a little present each for all their help because theyy haven't complained when they do the jobs.
i also brought some puzzles which my daughter and i are doing.
i am going back to supervise girl guides tonight, i am a leader there. it's only for two hours and we are doing crafts and a bit of cooking for halloween night. so should be good.

i still have stinging now and then on the wound and hubby thinks it is probably nerves growing back.

today is 3 weeks since my op so half way now.

sharp pains

Hello everyone,

After feeling quite good for a few days I had a worrying one yesterday when I kept getting sharp stabbing pains in the site of my scar - sort of just underneath. They occurred often and made me catch my breath a few times. Everything else appears to be getting better and I feel strong in myself but was not a happy chick yesterday. I did go to the shops but I don't think I overdid it

Hi Jarrow,
I get those pains too. Almost like tiny needle sticks. My husband keeps telling me they're nerve endings reconnecting. I have no reason to believe him but it sounds good. They're nothing that makes me want to call the doc though.

At least I didn't sleep in two-hour segments last night. I was up EVERY hour! How frustrating. And I had to pee each time. Why is this getting worse??? I have no painful urination so I don't feel there's a UTI but my bladder is making me an unhappy lady.

But that's my only complaint. I'm feeling very well otherwise.

Hope you're all doing well!

I just started getting those pains too. Luv2knit - you described it perfectly, it's like a pin pricks. I chalk it up to nerves near the incision.

I've had a good recover, slow but good. But yesterday, on two occasions, I went to the bathroom and noticed a tiny amount of blood. I did keep my cervix so the dr said there are still some cells that may shed each month but it was a little disconcerting. But here's the strange thing, I've had a perfect incision. No problems at all. Yesterday, I noticed a little scabbing. And I mean very little. But I really noticed it because it has been perfect and now there is a tiny little bit of scabbing at a couple of points along the incision. I woke up this morning to the same thing. I wonder if I'm stretching while I'm in bed and putting tension on it. I gotta tell you it kinda freaked me out!

Hello

I am feeling better also, but still not where I want to be. I think it is mostly because I can not sleep well. I used to be asleep by 10:30 pm every night. Now I lay in bed and can not fell asleep until somewhere between 1 and 3. Then I awake every hour or two. I end up staying in bed until 8 or 8:30. I really am starting to worry about managing this when I go back to work. I need to be up at 5:30 then. I am really off track for that! I get up in the night to pee also. I am averaging about 2 or 3 times. Pre op I never woke at night for that. But now I go alot more during the day than I did pre op. The bladder definitely is not the same.
