Hello Everyone!

I got some sleep last night so I am feeling better this morning. I figure everyone is feeling much better because there is a lot less posting going on! Even thoguh I am starting to feel better I still like to get on and hear how you all are doing. Should we be switching to a new forum with more opportunity for different topics besides post op? Do any of you have other sites you like as well as this one for message boards? I lurked at girls get going. I had high hopes since it was run by the same staff, but it somehow lacked the connections or comraderie or something I can't quite describe on this board. Well anyhow I hope you are all doing well...and I hope you are not overdoing!!

Hi Mrswillie: I've noticed the same thing! I also think that a lot of the women that had their procedure laproscopically and not abdominally like us are already back at work.

I seem to be stalled in my recovery. I do feel a little better each day but I still can't walk properly. I'm still shuffling and the more I walk, the more I lean! I'm worried that I won't be able to go back to work in two weeks! I go back to the dr on November 8 and I'm scheduled to return to work the following Tuesday. I'm still taking one percoset each morning and if I'm struggling in the afternoon I'm taking two excederin. However, I've been struggling with nausea and dizziness and fainting spells but I've been clear of those symptoms since last Thursday so hopefully I'm over that now.

The weirdest thing started happening to me on Sunday when I got out of bed. I've had a beautiful incision. No problems at all! Then every morning since Sunday I've woken up with a slight scabby area and it's kind of raised! I'm wondering if I may be moving around in my sleep now and maybe stretching so it's causing this. It's not really painful, it's just strange as I've not experienced anything wrong with my incision since the surgery!

I am desperatly bored!

I wonder when I'm going to be able to walk with shuffling and hunched over! I did walk to the mailbox yesterday. That's the farthest I've been since I came home!

Hi ladies,
I'm feeling pretty good today. I've been doing a few things around the house, but taking it slow. Fold a load of laundry, sit for a bit, empty dishwasher, sit for a bit. I've learned to do things a little at a time. Before I would do everything I thought I needed to do then be worn out and have to sit or lay all day. Now I just do one thing, rest for a bit etc. I hope now I will continue to start feeling good. I've also noticed not much posting today. Take care, hope everyone has a good day.

Hi everyone,

I know what you mean by the lack of posts - a lot of lucky ladies seem to be getting on with their lives. Me - I seem to be stuck. My TAH - BSO was Oct. 8, and unless I'm taking pain relievers, I am still very much hurting inside. I was quite depressed yesterday, but have a wonderful, encouraging husband and so have snapped out of it. I may have overdone it a couple of times, but I'm trying to be good. It's just very hard not to do things that need to be done. Ex. I was making the bed, no sweat I thought, but lifting the mattress to tuck in the sheet turned out to be a no-no. Bending over is still rough for me too. So...healing thoughts to all, and keep posting!

Post op depression

[quote=gallopinggram]Hi everyone,

I had my Da Vinci surgery on Oct 4th because of Endo cancer dx.
Just got the news I have to have further treatment.. count your blessings all you ladies who do not have to go thru any more trama.

Almost 4 weeks now,, physically I am much better.. trying to walk every day..
Trying to keep my spirits, but it is tough.
Hope all of you are doing better. We will get thru it.
I am getting bored tho.. I have always been very active and I hate having to rest every day.

I think maybe you are right the Lap girls may be back at work. I can relate to you guys. I am feeling better, but still have the back pain, pelvic area feels odd, and of course the menopausal stuff. It just takes a little more time I guess. I learned my lesson about overdoing it though and now I rest even if I don't think I need it. I am glad you guys are still posting because it has really helped me along! Hang in there, and gallopinggram no more lifting matresses! I was told by my doc that lifting was the worst thing of all!

i am a lap gal, and although i am back at work part time, i am not where i thought i would be at 4 weeks! somehow i got the idea that with a LSH i would be totally back to normal in two weeks or so. maybe some others are, but it's been slower for me. i am doing very well, but still have to take naproxen some days, and the fatigue still is an issue at times. i think my expectations were too high! i can tell that i'm very fortunate when i read some of the other posts here, so i send you all blessings and count my own!

Northof49,
TAH 10-8-07 , I too had a really nice scar then I awoke yesterday and noticed one area like you mentioned and I also thought probably from moving around too much.I'm doing O.K.. A nap a day. Trying to do alittle here and there. I had an A plus day yesterday, felt great all day, walked upright, hardly no pain at all, then today, aughhh... I really didn't do much yesterday, I didn't get much sleep last night. I would LOVE to be able to stay awake a busy all day just so I didn't have to sit or nap. The sitting a laying down is taking a toll on my muscles and back that I can hardly sleep at night.I'm going to see if I can work only 4 hours a day when I go back on the 20th of Nov. instead of a 40-50 hr. week. Just to get back into the groove, ya know?

1 month today

Had my TAH - everything gone - 1 month ago today! Have been busy reading The Wisdom Of Menopause by Christiane Northup, M.D. Learning a lot about what she calls "Surgical Menopause". No matter what type of surgery we have had we all are in the "change of life". I for one am suffering through the night sweats and hot flashes every hour and have not had a good nights sleep for 10 nights. I am waiting for hormone test results to come in so I can get on some HRT.
About the back and legs, etc., I am also experiencing that, and I have been trying to go for 3 walks a day and stay on my feet as much as I can without tiring, but I still have the pains. Even went for a massage yesterday, but the pain is back today. Have now booked an acupuncturist to try to get some relief! I think having abdominal surgery really throws our back out and once we are off the serious pain killers we recognize the back pain shouting at us.
I would love to do some stretching but even a little pulls my belly - and I don't want that. It is frustrating.
Happy Pre-Halloween all!

I kept my ovaries and they took my cervix and uterus. Does that mean with the ovaries still there I will still have the usual "epiodes" at the time of the month I would have started my cycle? Just no bleeding? Interesting.
Happy Pre-Halloween to you too!!
