Pam

We know you are not faking or doing anything wrong! It seems to me that we are all healing at different rates. I know personally I feel improvement, but I am not in the league with the gals that are begging to go back to work at 4 weeks! I wonder if I will even be able to at 6! I also do not think you have to feel guilty for not being back to your complete schedule at this time. My doctor told me last week the resting and no housework was for the entire 6 weeks, then he would begin to let me resume my activity. Which he told me should be done gradually. DO NOT do more than your body is telling you it can. That will only lead to setbacks. Take it sjlow and it will happen. Trust your gut--you are the only one who really knows how you feel. You will know when you are able to do more. Don't apologize and Do Eat chocolate whenever you want it always makes me feel better!!

Aw, Pam, I'm so sorry you're healing slowly.

I hope it's not the massages causing this.

Just make sure you take it easy. Don't even get dressed if you don't want to. Stay in your jammies all day. Especially since you had the hematoma problem. Just don't attempt too much.

Sending you get well wishes!

(We're supposed to have snow tonight.)

Never thought about the massages. Might want to think about that. Good suggestion about the jammies! I hope you feel better soon.

hi pam, just go at your own pace, you are not doing anything wrong if you listen to your body.
i have been feeling like doing a bit more so i tidied the spare room, and don't feel i overdid because i had lot's of breaks and the kids moved and lifted things i couldn't. so now i have a sewing room and it's a spare room too as my brother is coming to stay a few nights on the 19th nov.
can't wait to see him.
None of my family, mum etc have come to see me after my hyster so i am really looking forward to seeing my brother.
mum rang to see if i was ok on the first week out of hospital so that's something. My sis said she'd come and see me but is probably busy with work and 4 kids. My brother whos coming has 4 kids also and works, so he is making an effort i reckon.
The hardest part about having a hyster is that mum and everyone is carrying on and i can't yet but time is going fast. I am going to a new person and am saving up to walk the milford track in south island nz next year. and hope to do it with a friend.
today is wet so will not be tyding rooms just watch telly and do a jigsaw and cross stitch.
hang in there everyone we are nearly there now and you pat yourselves on the back for all your healing and support here. just reading everyones posts helped me so much.

I agree with everything everyone has said on this page. We all have been so helpful and giving with information and support. I am getting anxious about my first visit with my Dr. on Monday, I have alot of questions to ask him. I do have a question for all of you. My steri-strips came off weeks ago, but I still have these metal things i can feel alng my incision. One is actually sticking out on one end and is snagging my clothes. Whatthe heck are these do you think??? The one on the end sticking out has been there sonce the strips feel off. I am alittle worried about this. Ant one else have this problem? If it is a problem at all. Take care all.

I too went back to the hospital with a fever about a week after my surgery. I was told I had pneumonia. A week later my fever reached 103.5 and I spent another 5 days in the hospital. It turns out I have an abdominal infection. If any of you get a fever contact your doctor. I could have gone septic, but so far the extremely strong antibiotics are working.

Thanks for letting me have a good cry ladies. I think I'm going insane! hahaha.

twobtrue: maybe it's a left over staple. I wouldn't pull on it. If you're going to the dr on Monday I would just let her/him take it out. My steri strips took about 3 weeks to fall off but all of my staples were removed before I left the hospital.

Thanks again for letting me whine. I'm still feeling crappy but I guess I'll just have to suck it up!

Talk about being bored - I'm being a typical Canadian and I'm watching the hockey game on tv. Now that's bored! hahaha

Have a nice night!

Hi

I am completely bored also. Nothing to do Saturday night at home. Question. Has anyone had one half of their abdomen swell and hurt more than the other? My left side has been achy for 2 days and now it is swollen up, noticably more than the right. I do not think I have overdone as I have been off my feet as much as on them and I have been very careful not to lift anything. Always one step forward, one back for me!

I feel your pain mrswillie about one step forward and one step back. I guess this is my setback period. I'm hoping that means a great improvement is ahead!

I read about uneven swelling somewhere. It may have been on the Checkpoints. I know I've seen it on this site. I'm not uneven as in left to right but I have a definate little bulge just over the incision site. It looks like a half-twinkie! I'll look around and see if I can find it.
