Hi ladies!

mrswillie, I slept great last night for 4 whole hours! Them wham!, I couldn't get back to sleep. I tossed an turned for an hour then got up and made a cup of Ovaltine and fell asleep on the couch for another 2 hours. It's such a shame that our sleep has been disrupted on top of everything we're dealing with. And sleeping is so vital to healing.

I have a trip to DC next week and I'm trying to plan on carrying as little as possible. I know I'll have to lug my bag to the baggage check-in and then I get rid of it but I want to avoid as much lifting and tugging as I can. I'll have to limit my carry-on. Then while I'm there it'll be meetings and events from morning to night. This will be my first big event since the surgery and I know I'll fade every afternoon.

Best wishes to you all...and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Michelle

I shared with you before my dislike of those gyne appointments so my thoughts will be with you. This time I will send calming vibes.

Michelle you were not rambling. I think calling your counselor is a wonderful idea. You have been through alot and I can see many reasons that you might be having trouble eating both physically and emotionally. I am glad you choose your family and realize that they love and care about you. The key for me is you seem concerned about your weight and don't really want it to dip to low either. I think that is a very good sign and you will be able to make the necessary steps to get healthy. I do not think you have to worry about someone locking you up. Unless you are really out of control and unable to make your own decisions it would be unusual for a judge to put you in without your consent, at least in IL anyway. We are here for you!! Anytime we will listen, support, and problem solve if you want. Feel free to pm me anytime.

I hope the appointment goes well. Please let us know what happens. I will be thinking of you. Calming vibes are on their way~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Luv2knit that no sleep business is awful! I hope that it does not happen for you too often. I am glad that the Ovaltine helped some. I really agree with you. I think if I had been able to sleep quite regular my healing would have progressed further.

Your trip sounds excting. I am ashamed to say with all the places I have been in the US I have never been to DC. I would like to get there one of these days. Is this business or pleasure? If it is business I hope there will be some free time for pleasure too! In the afternoon if you can at least get off your feet for a bit maybe that will help you recharge. Drinking alot is supposed to help with fatigue som I hav heard.

Do you have a rolling case? Those help alot in airport travels. I have seen some people in my office even have little rolling carryons that fit under the seat so you don't have to lift it into the overhead compartment. If it was me I don't have one that small so I would bring my roll on but I would need to put it in the overhead. I would ask one of the flight attendants to do it. If you ask in advance they are usually very helpful. Please let us know how it goes.

It was nice to hear from you and Have a Wonderful Holiday!

I have to take naps during the day and I cannot sleep at night. I have also noticed a huge difference in my appetite. I am not sure if it's related or not, but I have a hard time deciding what I want to eat. When I do eat, the food does not sit well. Has anyone else had this?

I stuggled with eating for several weeks post op. I had to schedule my meals or I just wouldn't eat and when I did eat I almost always felt sick after. I'm 7 weeks post op and I can eat more of what I want to now but I ate some chips and salsa last night and I didn't feel well after. Also, I used to eat quite large meals or snacks and I notice that I can't eat as much at one sitting. It does get better but the surgery is so invasive and they've moved everything around inside so I guess it just takes a little time for everything to working the same as it did pre-op.

Hi ladies: I was wondering if any of you have tried any scar reducing treatments. I was so desperately bored last night I went to the drug store just to break the monotony. I asked the pharmacist what she recommended and she sent me home with Elastoplast Scar Reducer tapes. They were really expensive! $40 CDN. So, I came home, opened the box, read the directions, cut the tape in half and applied both halves across my scar. I then sat down to read what was in these magic tapes and there is absolutely NO ointments or creams or oils. What? It's just tape! I could have used the same stuff I use to wrap Christmas presents! I went on line to read about it and they say it has something to do with heat. I don't get it. The process is to take about 8 weeks.

Has anyone tried any kind of scar reducer or has any suggestions? I thought I'd get a jump start on making my scar look more like a ribbon of triumph! (once the swelly belly goes, of course!)

Hi all
I just got back from shopping and lunch with my 4 yr old DS. We haven't been able to do that since before surgery. He really missed spending time with me and I missed it too. We had the best time.

twobtrue sorry you didn't have any luck with your jeans. You will in time. The fact that you're feeling great is a big positive step. Even though I got my jeans on doesn't mean I look great in them. They are much more snug than they used to be. I've lost 2 1/2 pounds since surgery, but I swear my butt and hips are bigger than before surgery. What's up with that?!

hysterhelp 42 glad you found us. I hope everything goes well for you when you go back to work.

Luv2knit take care of yourself when you're on your trip.

Michelle I'm sorry you are having these issues with your weight. I agree it is a positive sign that you do not want to lose anymore weight and that you choose your family. I also agree that calling your counselor is a great idea. I don't think it was wrong of you to choose the salad over the steak. There's many times when we eat late, that I prefer something light over a heavy meal. It is a good sign that you are trying to eat. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Jan I'm glad you got a good nights sleep last night. I think you have the right idea to take work one day at a time. I hope you'll be able to come up with a good solution for you DD.

Northof49 that tape seriously has nothing at all in it? It must have some kind of secret powers I hope it works. You'll have to let us know.

Well I'll check in later.

Oh my god... I am having the exact same problems!!! It seems that everything I eat - does not sit well and I'm in the bathroom!! My stomach cramps after eat - which makes me not want to eat!! Everything I eat does not taste right, I have such a hard time trying to figure out what it is I want to eat. I can't sleep at night, but I'm exhausted during the day time. When I tell this to people, they think I'm crazy and think that this has nothing to do with the surgery.... but I swear I was not this way before. I just hope this will pass soon. Thank you sooo much for your response. Now I don't feel like I'm crazy!!!

I'm home from my appt. My doc sat there and discussed things w/me like I was the only patient to see all day. I told him how great he's been the whole time before, during and after my hyst.
His only concern is my weight. He wants me to drink 2 nutrition shakes per day. He's going to call me in 2 weeks to check on my weight. EEEEEK!
My cuff still has stitches intact, but no silver nitrate for me. He didn't even ricommend it. The cystocele and rectocele have completely healed. YaaaaaaY!
I then went to the hospital to turn in my paperwork to come back. Everyone was so happy to see me. They all think I'm too thin. Duh. I know I am, but I kinda of like this weight. If I could feel energetic and healthy at this weight, I'd keep it. Thin is in, right? See, this is why I need the counseling. I'm going to call her right now. Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi northof49 I don´t know if the tape you bought is made of silicon, what it does is press the scar so it doesn´t form a keloid scar (those scars that build up). It really works for that, but it will not erase the scar only prevent it from getting thick.
Well two more days for 6 weeks, I was given the OK by the doctor to start having sex two weeks ago, and everything has gone fine, but just two days ago it began to be great. I still get pretty tired, being around the kitchen or doing the laundry is a big effort. Also my digestion is not good yet, but I think overall I am getting better, and hope all of you dear sisters are too.
