Camping??????

I am 6 weeks post op and my DH wants me to go 4 wheelin'/camping this weekend. I feel really good and no more pain (alittle sometimes at night). I have been on the 4 wheeler, but only on the maintained dirt roads around my home (farm country) for short rides pickin up kids and checking irrigation ditches. It will only be adults, so I won't have to take care of anyone but myself. Any opinions?????

( My 6 week post op appt is tomorrow, so I will ask dr what he thinks too.)

I think that the only person who can really answer that is your doctor.....personally, I can't see why not- but check with the doc.

Ouch. I can't imagine all that bumping around! I would definitely ask your Dr. I don't see any problem camping, but all that jostling to your insides on a 4-wheeler would concern me.

I agree, check with your dr first. Also, it might be a good idea ( if you get the go-ahead ) to have a plan for resting if needed. Listen to your body and try to not overdo.

Camping??????

Hi Tiffany!
Wow, I was just thinking about when I would be able comfortably camp and to quad with my husband again (in fact finished the yearly registrations on them yesterday). I, personally, am very nervous about jarring something and hurting again. If you check w/your doc, let us know what he tells you.

Camping??????

I've been camping a few times already since my surgery, and I did ok. Most times were in my camper, but I did manage a weekend in a tent! As far as riding, I'd check with the doctor for sure. I know being on bumpy roads hurts me a lot, so I would imagine four wheeling would be pretty uncomfortable and might jounce you around a bit too much.

Good luck, and enjoy yourself if you do go!

Camping??????

Well, I asked the dr. He said I could go if I felt up to it. Told me to be careful lifting. I will leave all the packing and loading of camping gear to the DH (he is being so cute....took me shopping yesterday for warm clothing and gloves.)
I will take it easy on the 4 wheeler...I will be on my own, so I can avoid any rough areas.

I will let you know how it went when I get back.

Thank you ladies for input.

Have Fun ..... But please, please .... be very careful and safe!!! Remember that the bumps, jiggles, and jolts are magnafied tremendously on the quads!! Do you use the belly band? That might help the jiggles and bumps

Camping??????

Well....I did Not go camping...a snow storm stopped that. But we did go riding today in the snow. No pain during or after. It was great to get out in the mountains.

Thank you all for your input...it is so nice to have this site and to feel all the love and concern there is here.
