Migraines & HRT: More or Less?

I'm only 6 weeks post op (TAVH-BSO) and on 1 mg estradiol. Whereas I used to get premenstrual migraines in the 2 days preceding my period, I'm now getting them every week since surgery. Just saw my Bahamian OBGYN - she said go OFF the HRT, which doesn't seem right. I talked her into trying to add some progesterone (Bio-identical) and she didn't know about Bio-identicals, but is researching it for me. Can anyone give me any input on how they adjusted their HRT to eliminate migraines? Many Thanks.

Migraines & HRT: More or Less?

My migraines went away when I got off the oral estradiol 1 mg tablets and on to the compounded bi-est/progesterone gel. I'm not sure if it was the dosing, method, or lack of progesterone that caused the migraines.

Migraines & HRT: More or Less?

Hi-I also am wondering-I'm 14 days post-op(LAVH-BSO) was told by my doctor that by taking it ALL I no longer would suffer from migraines and yet I had my first one two days ago. I started on 2mg of Estradiol daily 1 month before surgery for bad PMS and my doctor has increased it to twice daily 3days after surg due to hot flashes/nausea I was having. I was told also told that Estradiol was all that was needed-I feel really confused? Should I be using something more. I really don't know much about HRT

Knitty,
Thanks for your input. My doc did prescribe Prometrium for me to take along with the estradiol. I'll see what that does, then work on a different delivery if they're still a problem. I realize I'm still a "newbie" being so early in post-op, but weekly migraines are slowing my recovery (AND honkerblonkIN ME OFF!). I only started getting them at 40 and they arrived like clockwork before my period, so I KNOW it's a hormone issue. I've read conflicting info saying that TOO MUCH estrogen can cause migraines, but that pre-menstrual ones can mean TOO LITTLE!!! oy....
