Which Do I Choose???

Hello Everyone...Im new to this forum and would like some advice/resources. I was diagnosed with fibroids over a year ago and they continue to grow. I had them measured before but I dont have the exact size now...I was told when my doctor first discovered them I was at about the size of a 10 week baby now Im at 16 weeks UUUGGGHHH. I have large clots at my period time which now can be up to 2 weeks...spotting and flowing like crazy. I was talking with my doctor about different options...I really dont think the embolism would work just due to the size of the one large fibroid (I do have multiple ones), Im afraid of the Myomectomy...the bleeding and the possible growth again (I dont want multiple surgeries). I feel to some degree the hysterectomy is ideal for me but would like some opinions/resources to research some more. I have not had children, Im 36 yrs old and the idea of have children is not in the plan and after talking it over with my husband we talked about adoption always being an option....
Help anyone with advice....Thanks

Which Do I Choose???

Hi Lulubelle08,

In my opinion...the decision making can be the hardest part and unfortunately, we cannot choose for you. Just listen to your inner voice...and think about what feels right for you.

I had (2) large fibroids and I went over the options with my Drs also. A UFE (my fibroids were too large), myomectomy (my fibroids might grow back) and a wait and see (then my fibroids might keep growing). It was a frustrating period for me...believe me.

I might suggest you get a 2nd...even a 3rd opinion. I got (2) opinions myself. Just to gather as much information as possible and to see what another Dr. might recommend. It also might give you time to think about what you want to do.

Also, I can suggest researching the different types of hysts. The abdominal (TAH, SAH) and the less invasive hysts (TVH, LAVH, TLH, LSH). Just to see where you stand and what surgery type you are a good candidate for.

Sending best wishes~
