Help! Will this cause my surgery to be canceled?

I can't believe this. I don't shave or wax my pubes, but they are for lack of a better word...wiry. This evening I find that I not only have an ingrown hair....but it looks and feels INFECTED. It's right about where he indicated he will make one of the incisions for the LAVH. What should I do? I've read all those posts about not shaving/waxing due to chance of nicks and infections and now I'm scared to death my Monday surgery will be canceled. I've already started this awful bowel prep and would hate to have to go through that and all the anxiety of waiting again. Any ideas?

Either call the nurseline and see what they suggest or put hot compresses on the ingrown to help it come to a head. Maybe put some neosporin on it.

What a drag.

Calling your dr and asking sounds like a good idea. It's best to be cautious. If surgery has to be rescheduled ( I hope not ), better to know before you do the whole bowel prep

Help! Will this cause my surgery to be canceled?

Thanks ladies. Voices of reason are just what I needed. Just got off the phone with the assisting surgeon (incredibly nice & reassuring lucky can a sister get!) He says to put hot compresses on 3 or 4 times a day, apply antibacterial onintment if I'd like and no worries about surgery being canceled!!!!!! WOOHOO!! Now on with the nasty bowel prep, 2 bottles of grape flavored magnesium citrate. I'm already nauseaus from the preop antibiotics and all the fruit juice & jellow I've had today.
Thanks again.
