What do you wear in the hospital?

I'm wondering what most people wear in the hospital? Do you just stay in those gowns they give you or do you change into something else? What about slippers?

What do you wear in the hospital?

I stayed in the gown they put me in. They wanted easy access to me if they needed to. I also wore the slipper socks they gave me. I brought my robe and slippers. The robe is nice to wear on walks. I went home the next day, so wearing their gown was not a big deal. I didn't care the first 20 hours anyway!! By the time I really cared, it was time to get dressed and go home! Hope this helps!

What do you wear in the hospital?

How were you able to go home the next day? Did you have laproscopic surgery?

What do you wear in the hospital?

I bought two pair of lounge pants, matching cotton shirts, thick socks and a soft, matching robe. At first, I intended to take them to the hospital with me (and I may, still) but I will probably use them primarily for the recuperation time at home. I also am taking my Crocs for sure - I feel more surefooted in them instead of slippers that sometimes live up to their name! You know what I mean? I was told I will be in the hospital 3-4 days (I assume that includes the day of surgery) and I figure most of that time I'm not going to care WHAT I have on. In case I do, tho, I will have a nightshirt or something from home with me.

Hope this helps.

What do you wear in the hospital?

I packed like I was going on vacation and didn't wear anything until I went home and need under garments. Although, I did bring a sports bra that zipped up the front, that was a gift from the Gods. I put that on as soon as they got me out of bed on day two. I was tired of the girls just flapping at my side :-) the slipper socks are great as long as they give you the right size. Mine were a size too big and before I started walking I got a different pair. I had TAH on a Monday morning and was home by Wed. morning. Ya just never know! Best of luck to all of you and remember that we're thinking of you and praying for you. Hugs! M

What do you wear in the hospital?

I wore a hospital gown the first night. In the morning, after my shower, I wore a nightgown from home. I definitely wore my slippers walking up and down the halls. I looked real good in my nightgown, TED hose, and slippers; but it didn't bother me one little bit. I even wore that lovely outfit outside to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July!

What do you wear in the hospital?

I changed right after I got to my room. I couldn't wait to get out of that gown. I took loose fitting pj bottoms and a tank w/bra support and a robe. I just felt more like myself in my own pj's. The nursing staff were very helpful in helping me with working around the cath. I had a total vag hyst and didn't really have much bleeding after surg. I should have taken some xtra undies (it would have been more comfy than the mesh things they give you) because of the pad you wear the first couple of days post surg. Slippers or crocks are also a good idea. Good luck to you!

Fashionable Hospital Gown

Hi All,
I wore the fashionalble hospital gown. My hospital wanted all patients to be in gowns. I held the back together when went out into hall for walks -- did not want to repeat the Jack Nicholson scene from movie "Somethings Got to Give" and show my butt to the whole floor!

I was connected to IV most of my stay, and could not get a robe on over it. They actually cut the first gown off to allow me to shower. After that I got ones with snaps on shoulders.

Of all personal stuff I took, only used lip balm, toothbrush, and lotion. Used soap, shampoo, pads, etc that they provided. Although used them, the mesh panties hospitals use were not the most comfy.

By the time I would have felt like fussing over clothes, I was going home (in same loung-y wear, including crocs) that I wore in. Enjoyed some new night shirts and pj's with drawstring pants when I came home.

Wishing all the best ---

What do you wear in the hospital?

I feel like I'm asking such a stupid question---what are these "mesh panties" they give you? I'm trying to remember the ones they put me in after my vaginal delivery and the big bulky pad thing that just sat in there. Is it the same? Also, when you have a catheter (do all of us have one till we leave?) does that effect what underwear you can wear? I just remember being so happy to get on some comfy "granny panties" and regular old Stayfree pads after delivery. Just wondering if the catheter (or even colostomy bag?) affect this.

What do you wear in the hospital?

I'm scheduled for a LAVH on Oct 25th. Thanks for the insight on what to wear while in the hospital. It really helps. Now, what did you wear home? I figure that my regular pants probably won't feel all that great and am just thinking of wearing some lounge type pants home or some other adjustable drawstring type waist. How soon before you were able to get back into your regular pants?
