Help - Debating trip to ER (update)

Hey everyone, thanks for your support, I took lots of drugs including a sleeping pill last night, so I actually got some sleep. The on call doctor did call me back twice to check on me and suggetrsted if I didn't go to ER to see the doc on Monday am, so I am going in tomorrow morning (Monday) for a check. Surprise my doc doesn't work on Mondays but will not wait any longer.

I think I really fear they might find another growth, which scares and depresses me. But I won't worry anymore until I see the doc and get some answers TOMORROW!

I will keep you all posted.

Thanks again for all your thoughts, this site ahs truely been a emotional savior!

Help - Debating trip to ER (update)

Hey everyone- Sorry it took so long to get back, went to the doctor yesterday and the ultasound said I had a mass, and the nurse called and said go to the ER.

Stanford ER was a zoo, I felt like I was in an episode of the show ER, people were in the hallways. But I got a private room do to a "girl issue." We got there at 6, didn't get seen until 8:30, pain meds at 9"30 and a room at 2am, long night

So I had a CT scan and yes, I have a 4cm mass which they said was possible an ovarian cyst, HAHA I don'thave ovaries. Even the two doctors were stumped. I think I lost it about 10:30, hysterically crying because no one knew what to do or what it was, and the last thing I wanted was another unknown. The first doctor asked me when the problem started and I laughed and said when I was 16. But my doctors associate actually came to the hopital ER to see me and eplained that my hyster was really bad and there may have been some residual tissue to was fed byt he estrogen that caused this mass to grow. This was my BIGGEST fear, having to battle endo for almost 20 years. Starting to feel a little hopeless that feeling "back to normal" is a fantasy that will never be a reality. It is a little scary when three doctors are unsure what to do but I was a little glad they didn't rush to open me up and wanted to wait till my doc who has done the last 3 surgeries is back.

SO they admitted me with good pain drugs and a sleeping pill. I was released today but they are still not sure what to do. The pain is more managenble and I now have percacet (sp?) and sleepng pills. ALthouhg I have slept all day today, I think residual form the morphine which made me throw up a few times.

I will go back to work tomorrow for a little but,my bosses have been great, and told me to take time off if I need to, so maybe a few hours to keep my brain busy. Sitting is hard so we will see.

So although I now know I havea "mass" I still feel scared and frustrated that I am not any closer to feelign better yet, and the thought of another surgery scares me. I will keep you all posted as soon as I see my docot rlater this week.

Thank you all for your support, I don't feel so alone in this. My husband has been great but he want' to "fix it."

So thiank you and and lots of

Thanks for letting us all know what happened next since your post about what to do w/that pain... it isn't over yet, is it? I hope the root of the issue w/the mass gets resolved soon and that you continue 'or go back' to healing. Good luck and know that lots of people are thinking of you.

Help - Debating trip to ER (update)

If you are in pain and if you are not able to go to your own Dr. the Er is the next best thing. I understand the wait but if you are not feeling well take care of yourself.

Help - Debating trip to ER (update)

Hey everyone,

I thought I would update. So I had to see a specialist in vascular radiology to see if he could drain the "mass." He said it was a 50/50 chance that it would work but I figure I'll try anything.

But while waiting of a decision I had another episode. I went back to Stanford ER and althouhg I was eventually admitted it was an 18 hours wait in the ER.

After being admitted the docs talked to the radiologist who agreed to perform the drainage procedure early the next morning. While waiting for the procedure I went down hill quickly. The back pain was so intense there wasn't enough morphine in the world... I was shaking and vomiting continually due to the pain. Once they got me in the room and knocked me out they did the procedure. when I woke I felt completely calm and better.

So three more days at the hospital and another procedure and I feel so much better. Unfortunately there may be one more procedure after they determine what it was they drained, they said it was not standard fluid, so may have to go back and cauterize.

Has anyone ever had these "fluid pockets" or intense back pain as a result?

Anyway, thanks for all your support this site is great!
