Back from my second Doc Visit...............He is concerned about me being backed up. So I got some suppositories, not as bad as they sound. He said from there we go to Fleet enemas. Part of my pain is from that he told me. I also had a bladder lift(not sure what its called). And that can still cause a bit of pressure and pain. But besides that I am tired. Thinking of going back to wook for a coulple hours this week to get use to it. Hope that is the right choice................any suggestions.........................Marguerite(Beacher29)

Heading into week 4 (surgerh was Oct 10). Last week was my first full week back at work and boy was I tired at the end of the week, especially convincing DH that a daylong outing on saturday that included an event at the college, followed by lunch, followed by grocery shopping and topped off by a stroll through Costco was too much. We settled for college event and lunch on Saturday, groceries on Sunday, and if he went and did Costco later on Sunday he didn't mention it because I was having a lovely nap ;-)

I'm feeling "pretty" good, but lots better after I had a nice long nap Saturday and another on Sunday. Still enough "leakage" to need pantyliners, a bit of pale pinkish spotting is all, and looking forward to when this ends. Any aches at this point are "Tylenol-strength" and nothing more. As much as I enjoyed the codeine and vicodin, I really don't need them. I really don't need them. I really don't need them.

Somewhat indelicately, I had some amazingly pornographic dreams all Satuday night, and woke up with the ladylike equivalent of "morning wood". I'm ready to get back in the saddle as soon as the doc gives the OK, hope the DH is ready.

Continued recovery going well

Hi everyone,

I'm just about at the end of my 4th week post-op. So far so good. My surgery was Oct 12th and I came home Oct 14th. It was a total hyster. I was sicker than heck on that Monday. But that passed before night fall. Prior to my surgery I was very concerned about how I was going to feel. I've had little pain, little bleeding and little discharge. My biggest problem has been sleep. All I want BEFORE Christmas - is one FULL Night's sleep.

My other issue has been clothing. I wore a skirt yesterday to church and it was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever worn. Since I came home its been lounging pants or sweats or sleep pants. Nothing tight on the middle.

I love my doctor and the hospital staff. They were great. My incision is really good. You can barely see it. My doctor had them remove the staples before I can home. So I only had them for 2 days.

The funny thing is I feel good and things went well. I'm just wondering what's in store for me. Will I have a really bad time with Menopause?

Hi Marguerite(Beacher29),

I started eating 3 -4 prunes every morning. I've gotten things to move pretty from that. I had to get a suppository before I could leave the hospital. Oh what joy! But it worked and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

As for working, listen to your body. I found that when I started increasing my activity I was more tired. And now I listen to my body. I work form home a couple of hours a week. But I really feel I need the time off to recover totally. Just take is easy as you go.

I have gone in to the office on and off over the past two weeks. I just haven't mentioned it to my Dr. It wears me out more than any physical activity that i have done! Don't underestimate the effect of stress. I have a sweet friend who when she saw me at church told me don't go in to work at all because people will think you are well. She was right!!! In a matter of 5 minutes, my boss had given me four issues to address!!!

I have never been so frustrated with anything in my life as this recovery. There is no rhyme of reason to anything - you can't plan for anything and I am so sick of wanting to do things and just not have the energy to do them. I am grateful that I don't have pain and it is wonderful to be able to roll over in bed without a big process to accomplish it!

Speaking of sleep issues, my Dr put me on Paxil last week and last night I clenched my jaw so tight my tooth hurt this morning and I couldn't rest because the muscles in my arms felt tight and restless, like my legs do. I have RLS. It was really annoying and weird. I go to the Dr Thursday. Should I be concerned about these side affects? Is it normal for these types of anti-depressants to cause these symptoms? I'm into week 3 of my post op and I wonder if that has anything to do with it as well.
Thanks so much.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having "those" dreams! I must have 4 arousing dreams per year, and I have had 4 in 3 weeks time! And I haven't had sex in a long [i]time! Weird, huh?

so...here is the deal. I'm back from the doctors. He never gave me staples. Those "wires" are hardcore stiches and they should dissolve.Yeah. He did what he called a "plastic surgeon" stitch. He sewed up to the top as close as he could and then put the steri-strips on. He said everything looked great. You were right, the exam was alittle painful. He poked, prodded, pushed. I am sore right now and will go lay down in a few, I just wanted you to know how my visit went. Before I could get two words in he said'You have a pretty strenuous (SP) job, don't you?" I said yes and he automatically gave me 2 more weeks. So now I don't have to go back to work until Dec. 2nd. I was kinda upset, because I love my job and wanted to go back on the 20th. ANyway,he said he believes I am only half way there and I needed the extra two weeks. I can drive, and do anything I want but not lift anymore than 20 pounds. Oh yeah..no sex for another 3 weeks. Im feeling preety good now about the extra 2 weeks I think deep down I need them also. He just said not to go gung ** on housewrok etc, and just do a small amt. each day. My cervix weighed 1/2 lb. lol Iguess thats not much. Anyway. Im good and o the road to recovery. To all that are just starting...do exactly what the dr. says. No driving, no lifting, resting alot of water and exta rest. I havent even driven yet and don't thinkI will for at least another week. well thats it .the worrying about the left over staple is no longer there, becuse like I said he never gave me staples. My incision looks great. Take care

Went to the Dr yesterday and he lifted all restrictions, except heavy lifting and sex.

Thing is, I'm not ready to drive and don't plan to for at least another week. As for work, luckily I can work from home, but I do need to show up at the office to pick up paperwork. Am torn about how much time to spend there this week and next. I really don't want them to think I'm "back in the saddle" when I still feel like I fell off the horse.

Luckily DH is in a position to chauffer me back and forth to the office. I think I'll put in about 2-3 hours 2 days a week till after Thanksgiving.

Hope each day brings better things to all my hyster sisters!
