I go for 6 week check up next week, the 20th.I feel good.Only that my belly feels sore at times. And is still swollen at night.I have to say compared to last week I am feeling alot better.Still tired alot tho,but I can make it through the whole day without naps. But today I am heading back to bed.We bought our first house and are moving Dec.1...whoohooo...have alot of friends coming to help me pack..they know I still can't overdo it.Don't know what I would have done without fiancee and kids. They have been so wonderful.Through this whole ordeal I have lost 50 lbs.I needed to drop some weight.I am doing more and more everyday but still won't over do it.I don't want any set backs.Went thru way too much to go backwards.I asked PCP about some crying...he feels its just the situations...like the move...going on...no night sweats...Knock on wood....just glad to be getting back to a somewhat normal life....well girls off to bed I go...kids are gone to school....be careful...we are still healing inside....luv yas

Feeling pretty good these days too. The swelly belly comes and goes. i beleive I am on the track for total recovery. i go back to work on 12-4-07, and I think I will be ready. The thing is on my last and final post-op the doctor gave me a piece of paper that just says when I can return to work, their is nothing else written onit. I'm wondering if I should go and see him one more time to have him write up a restriction sheet. i have a very strenuous job with some lifting of over 40 lbs. and also wooden fixtures in my dept. that weigh close to 100 lbs that sometimes need to be moved for merchadise purposes. Those fixures have wheels on them but are still quite heavy. Has anyone who has gone back to work already taken a " restriction" sheet of some kind. I don't want to go to work and keep telling them "oh, I can't unload the truck", or " sorry I need someone to lift that for me". I pretty sure their will still be some limits for awhile longer.

hi twobtrue...In regards to a restriction sheet, I was given quite an extensive one to give to my doc to fill out before I can go back to work. (from the Occupational Health/Safety dept at my work)It starts out at the top with a check list with "patient appears fit for sedentary/light/medium or heavy work. It has lifting, carrying, pushing, walking, Maximum weights and sitting/standing maximum minutes. (as well as a whole other section) I think you should definitely either talk to a similar dept (if you have one at work) or at least make sure you get something from your doc outlining such things. It is for their benefit as well as yours..because they won't want you getting injured on the job. I'm not sure when I'll be going back to work or how much I'll be allowed to do..it's based on what the doc says and how he fills out this sheet. Hope that helps!

Yes, gillygal, that helps me out alot. I will call my work today and see if they can print me one up and take it with me on Tues. The apt. I have for the 19th was actually made in Sept. for another follow-up after my D&C that I had. When I went for my last post-op for my TAH he said I didn't need to keep that apt., but I never called and cancelled it. i will keep it just to go in one more time and have the form filled out. They will probably charge me a fee for having the Dr. fill it out just like they did with my Family Med. Leave of Absence form. $20.00. go figure. Thanks again...Tina

re the ovulation question.

That is a big yes for me. I kept my ovaries and so far they have ovulated twice since surgery. I had a cyst removed during the surgery, so to pop an egg out of there a week after was fun (OUCH). The last cycle was ouchy as well but not so bad. One evening with the tylenol and the heating pad and I was ok.

It is the strangest thing to have a "cycle" but nothing comes out. I had ovulation cramps and pms normally before surgery and they continue. I'm trying to keep track of it just so I can anticipate the pms, because I always need to mind my temper that week LOL.

have a good day

I know..mine costs $30 but I can get re-imbursed..The closer I get to possibly going back to work, the more I can see that I'm not fully ready!! It will suck to not be able to just go lay down if I feel the need! I guess we do have to push ourselves a little though, in order to get back to normal. I feel I'm almost ready, but I too am worried about the lifting as I work in health care. Good luck with your appt. Take care and take it easy while you can.

I'm headed for my 6 week checkup today and am a little scared. Everyone has said they do an internal look and it hurts. Should I take pain meds before? Not looking forward to this, especially since it's a few days early (doc's on vacation for Thanksgiving). Any hints to make this easier? I do have quite a list of questions for him.

JudithL, the internal look really isn't painful (or at least it wasn't fro me at 5 weeks post-op) it was more discomfort. Take a Tylenol before if you want. i had some slight pain that evening ,but not much. i felt good knowing everything was O.K and that made the pain not so bad. I too had a long list and he was intune to my questions. I hope your post-op goes as well as mine.

Just got back from my doctor appointment and he cleared me to go back to work and resume normal activity with no restrictions. The internal look was not painful. Swollen belly hurt a bit with him pressing on it. The incision is good too. I'm truly relieved after reading about some ladies experiences and troubles. I went over my list of questions and it turns out I had adenomyosis/endo and small fibroids and cysts throughout. No regrets at all; things were going from bad to worse. Thanks twobtrue for your words of encourgement!

what kind of questions are you guys asking your docs? i had a look at the list of questions on this site. so many i would not have even thought of.

i went to my mosaic class today for 3 hours (it's a 7 hour class normally). mostly just a visit. it was fun but now i'm laying down, took an ibu600 and looking forward to a nap.
