colonoscopy after TAH

I'm having my first-ever colonoscopy later this month, about 10 or 11 weeks after my TAH. My gyne said there's no medical reason I can't have it.

Has anyone else had one after their TAH? Nowadays, I have an ache from my TAH only occasionally but I wonder whether being jostled around during the procedure might be a problem.

Good luck on yours, Elaine. I still have a preliminary meeting with the GI so I will ask her about it.

Too bad they couldn't have done it before your hyst while your bowels were already cleaned out and you were sedated. I hope everything goes well for you.

I have a question?

Is it common to need to see a GI after a hysterectomy? I have been needing to but 4 weeks prior to my hysterectomy, I went to a Gastro, and he said nothing was wrong with me that I think too much and "he would do the scopes just so that in 6 months down the road I go to someone else and by chance they did find something you don't come back here and yell at me."! I am afraid of them now. I couldn't imagine putting myself in such a vulnerable situition with such a harsh doctor. I would say that I may have a few issues but does a hysterectomy worsen that area or the body? Do only woman who have a certain procedure done require this. Thanks for any info you may think of.

colonoscopy after TAH

I'm having a colonoscopy done because my father was diagnosed with colon cancer and I've learned that my mother has colon polyps. Even though I'm below 50 (I am 46), I am concerned about the cancer risk.

My need for a colonoscopy has nothing to do with my TAH. The only connection is that my gyne, who assisted on my TAH, recommended this particular GI dr.

During my TAH, I learned that I had early stage endometrial cancer and now I'm really focusing on preventive measures, such as mammograms, colonoscopies, etc.

Well, I have had a problem with reflux for a while now, so the gastro Dr. wants to check the possible damage, and also
before my hyster, I had been having trouble with Bm's to much to little never normal , but it hasnt been normal sense I had my gallbladder out..The place by my lower left side stays sore alot may be my colin(sp)?
So he will be checking for a possible ulcer and Ibs , colitis or what ever could be the cause.I had saw one of the other Dr.s in my Gyno's office who pretty much blew me off before my hyster and said at 'my age you could expect tummy troubles...well it turned out at the time I had two tumors on my right ovary, one was precancer, the size of a softball or grapefruit..Thank God My regular Dr. was there that day!
He made sure to find out what was wrong didnt laugh at me or say well at your age".I just wish I hadnt waited so long to get everything checked! I should have stuck to my guns and made sure i saw my Dr. instead of waiting almost a year!
take care ladies and God Bless!

colonoscopy after TAH

My Onc required a Colonoscopy because Colon cancer is more prevalent than Endo cancer and is genetically similar or the same. He wanted to make it so there would only be one operation, one Anesthesia if I had both. I didn't. it's very rare to have both. Everyone over a certain age is SUPPOSED to have a Colonoscopy anyway, but who voluntarily goes for them? LOL

colonoscopy after TAH

I wish I would've had the colonoscopy during my TAH. It would've been easier (not to mention having bowel prep only once).

And yes, the "genetically similar or the same" is what scares me about the colon cancer/endo cancer.
