Don't be afraid to ask family or friends to vacuum for you. They really want to help, and you will be more comfortable without the dust bunnies.

I had a hysti on my birthday, Oct 18th; what a present! Anyway, recovery is going well; the gas pains are the worst. My uterus and cervix was removed; the incision was from the navel down. Staples were removed last Friday. The preop biopsy didn't show any sign of cancer, however, the pathology report did. Now, I'm facing a second surgery to remove ovaries, as a preventive measure to not develop ovarian cancer. I'm shocked, nervous and feeling all sorts of things. Follow-up appt went well yesterday with doctor, but I have an 'orange' colored discharge that comes and goes. Is this normal? Is this a sign of something? Can anyone please advise? Much love to everyone!!

Free4ever, not sure about the orange discharge. I know I peed orange for several days post op, because of the dye they used to look inside my bladder. I have heard of a yellowish discharge that some women get post op........

I posted a new thread on this but wanted to post it here as well. I am close to two weeks post op. I had NO bleeding, discharge or anything since day one. Nothing. Tonight I started bleeding, bright red. More than spotting, but not what I would call "heavy" either. I did have some odd pulling/stretching type feeling pains earlier, and may have overdone it with too much walking Friday, but have been off my feet all day today. Not sure if I should be concerned or not??? Anyone know?? I'm planning on monitoring it til morning and see what happens. I will definitely call if it gets heavier. It's kind of scary and I'm curious as to why this would start NOW?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks ladies!!

Christine

TAH a little over 2 weeks ago. I had dissolvable stitches with sterie strips. During my 2w post op office visit the DR said it was ok to remove the sterie strips, which I did. The incision is closed and looks great but it is very tender and my clothing rubbing against it feels like a sunburn. Any suggestions? I've tried covering it but the covering feels like it rubs against it too. It is very irritating and hurts all the time!
Does anyone else love gaining an hour?

Free4ever:
My hyst was Oct 18 too. Happy Belated Birthday. I am sorry to hear about your path report. I would feel the same as you........it's a good thing you had the hyst when you did. When are they going back in for your ovaries?
I had a discharge too - not orange but brownish. I read somewhere on this site that it could be internal healing and will eventually go away. Did you discuss it with your MD?
My prayers are with you. Good luck with the future surgery.

I had TAH on 10/18, also. The Nurses in the hospital said that I would have some spotting 2 weeks out due to internal stitches dissolving. I did have a brownish discharge. They didn't tell Me what color that it would be, only that it wouldn't be as heavy as a normal period.

I really can't help you in that department as I didn't have any bleeding whatsoever. And I have staples inside that don't dissolve.I have them for the rest of my life.Maybe the brownish color is just dried blood. But if you feel it's something you don't feel comfortable about then call the doc.I hope all works out for you.Keep your chin up.

I had mine on Oct 18 and like you, no bleeding or discharge. Then after like 10 days, I started bleeding bright red like a period starting. I called the advice nurse and they had me come to ER to find out where the bleeding was coming from. I had an internal exam and I had popped one of the internal stitches. So I had to go bad to bed for a day or two. All is well. I had actually sneezed really hard before the bleeding. Told them that, and they said, "sneezing is not encouraged"! Ha ha.

Thanks, adecoder. I called doctor today, just to be sure. She called me back and she told me "serious bleeding isn't usually subtle......" She told me to try to stay off my feet, get some rest. She thinks I either somehow popped a stitch, or overdid it again, or both. DH is freaking out and keeps telling me how much I need to slow down!! My post op is Tuesday, so I will see her then, but she told me if it gets worse before then to call and they'll get me right in.

Anyway, after your story, I started thinking. Last nightl, a few hours before the bleeding started, I sneezed, like 3 times in a row...........UGH........not a nice feeling!!!! Anyway, forgot all about that until just now.......maybe that's it.........

Thanks for sharing that with me, it does make me feel better.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Christine
