Hello sisters...I feel like we are all in the same boat here! I was feeling really good Sunday, made the kids breakfast, lunch, simple dinner, folded some clothes, loaded the dishwasher, just a drop in the bucket to a "normal" day, and by Monday am I was bleeding again, passed a small clot. Called the doc and she said as long as it isn't alot, it's normal, but it still is very freaky and scary and frustrating. I wasn't even doing that much! So I was very depressed Monday. Starting to move around a bit more now, but I am stilled scared that I'll bleed again. I am due to go back to work in less than 2 weeks and I can't even imagine how I'll make it through a full day. Getting those extra 2 weeks off sure sounds like an excellent idea, but I am out of leave time. I may ask anyway, depending on how things go in the next week. I still get very tired by afternoon too. I have tried to put on "real" clothes a few times, and I can't be comfortable in anything but sweats and pjs! My husband was joking with me yesterday as I lay on the couch doing nothing while he was in the kitchen doing everything...he said "honey, now you know what it feels like to be the husband!", except that the husband usually chooses to do nothing, rather than having no choice! There may be long-term benefits to this temporary role reversal, but I am so tired of being unable, that I would gladly switch back to being the one doing everything! We will get there eventually, right?

Full Boat

Hey ladies!
This is my first post, but have read all of yours, so I feel as if I'm right along with you!
I had a TAH on Oct 17th. Surgery went well. One of my ovaries was attached to my uterus which the dr said she has never seen - 1 in 100,000 wow but can't win on a scratch off to save my life! lol.
I have been experiencing all the same things as you ladies, hence, this is how I found you....looking for answers if this was normal. Discharge, odor, mood swings, night sweats, pain.....am I havig a nerous breakdown? ....should I be doing more than I am?...am I doing too much?....should gas hurt this bad?....can I drive?...why can't I sleep?.....when can I have sex?....what about a bath?...etc.... ya'll have given me a wealth of information and helped to know I am not alone in this journey. I hate you are going thru this...but glad for the advice.
I am due to return to work on Nov 26th and find myself very nervous for the return as I feel I will not be up to par. My job is non stop, full throttle. I don't know how I will handle that. I see several are wondering the same thing. I still hurt, the past few days are the first I have been able to walk like a normal person!
I feel frustrated too that I have all this time off and cannot do anything with it. But I guess when you look at it, we are suppose to be doing something with this time...it's called healing!
And when I get aggreviated with everyone else expecting me to be "back to normal" I have to remember that I, myself, even expect me to be back to normal! And it just has not been enough time yet. And here I must give major KUDDOS to my mother who has been here the whole way taking care of everything and making sure I behave.
This surgery is much more than I had expected. I'm tough and heal fast... I told my dr I needed to be back to work in 3 to 4 wks. She laughed at me and said "we'll see". On my follow up visit on Nov 9th, she said "I told you girl! This is major surgery." She also told me she would give me a note for the following week off if I don't feel ready. I'm thinking I might take her up on that offer!
Thanks for listening to my whine...and thank you so much for all the info! Blessing to all and good healing!

4 weeks tomorrow TAH/BSO

Hello Ladies,
I am 4 weeks TAH/BSO and I guess I should say also s/p kidney stone. My recovery from this hysterectomy has been great. I have felt wonderful until I had the experience of a lovely kidney stone 4 days post op. I thought it was horrible gas pains. BUT NO a large kidney stone.
Other wise I am feeling wonderful no pain at all. I am very anxious to go back to work. The only complaint I have is HOT FLASHES. They are unbelievable. I am ready to start packing my bed with ice packs. I see my doctor in two weeks to get a release to go back to work. I NEED HORMONES. LOL
I am glad I have this site to come to vent. My family is tired of my fussing about my being hot all the time. They are about to kill me , because I have the A/C on 60 with a fan on high.
Thank you for allowing me to vent.
God Bless you all,
Jodean :burning:

Hey Jodean,
Yes I agree with you on the hot flashes...they are horrible! Have to keep changing the sheets becuz they are soaked! Maybe we should invent an ice sheet for post hysto women to sleep on! lol.
So you will be 6 wks post op when you go to the dr? And you feel good enough now to go back to work?

Hi Terri,
Yeah! I am so ready to go back to work. I am ready to go to work tomorrow.
But my doctor said no, since I have had a set back with the kidney stone, and now I am having heart issues. PVCs have put me back to work on Dec 3rd. And he said that is it . And not to ask again. WELLL BBBLLLLAAAAHHH.
he he he he LOL . I feel wonderful, palpitations and all. I guess its my bodys way of saying hello chick slow down. I also have a bleeding disorder that I am dealing with. Thankfully I have had no bleeding at all. Thanks for responding for a long time here, I felt alone. My mom's hysterectomy was in 1980 she said she did not remember it. It was so long ago and she was out of work for 8 weeks and was bed rest for 6 weeks of it. Well HECK how time changes.

Have a great night. Good luck on your recovery.

hi evryone, today is 4 weeks for me!I have felt pretty good the last 4 or 5 days, I think the hormones are leveling out. no extreme bad moods, still some mild warming trends tho. Each week does seem to get better but, I still get tired easy.

I'm off work till jan. as my job is very fast paced & lots of heavy lifting. My dr. wants me to have the full 8 weeks recovery! I really like my dr., he delivered my oldest & my twins. All were delivered by c-section.

It is hard trying not to over do & have all this time off. If I had some money I'm sure I could find a lot of things to keep me busy. It sucks watching all the medical bills rolling in & trying to fit them in my extremly tight budget.

I highly recomend to everyone, take as much time as the dr. will give you. You'll really be glad you did. As many sisters on this site have said " you only have one chance to heal well"! Besides we don't want to do anything that will mess up the dr. fine work he did on us, do we!?!

take care everyone, I'm hoping next week will be even better than this week for all of us. have a great evening,

love to all
Terry

How much driving are you gals doing? I find it almost impossible not to drive some places - kids to school functions, appointments, etc. No unnecessary trips, but DH can't be here all the time obviously.

But, I still have loads of pain when going over road bumps...even when someone else is driving. Anyone else?

Week 4 for me.

Drove for the first time last week- but only one day. Have driven each day this week as needed.... just for dr. appointment, a very short trip to Wal-mart, and then to church last night.

Not planning any extended excursions at all.... just whatever is really necessary.... and trying to rest in between outings- that seems to help.

Hope we all find our "balance" as we return step by step to "life as usual".

My best to you all....

I'm mainly just driving arround home, have not driven into town yet. I might go in today just to see. Up till now I would get too tired. The bumps don't bother me too much. I'm at 4 weeks now, I see the dr. on monday. I have'nt taken any meds for pain in a week. I think I'm healing pretty well.

Tiring easy is a thing I think most of us will have to deal with a good long while!I just hope all the mood swings & hot flashes are behind me?!? Dh has been very helpful, still gets mad at me when I do the dishes!

Now that I'm feeling better, I just wish I had some money to get some x-mas shopping done. Dh works 12 to 15 hrs every day, so it gets real lonely & boring sitting home. I really miss my twins boys, they moved out 2 weeks after my 1st surgery in aug.

take care & rest when you can. Have a great day!

Good Morning Sisters

Have to admit last couple of days have seen me with alot more energy. Yesterday with the help of DH I cleaned out my closet which was a disaster. I have 5 lawn bags of clothes to donate to charity. Thought I would be exhausted in the evening but I actually felt envigorated and took an ambien at 11 pm despite the fact that I wasn't really tired. This was the first time since surgery I actually felt myself.

Today I straightened out some more and will do my 14 year old sons drawers (more charity),

Hasn't it been said that week 3 is like hitting a brick wall and week 4 the llight at the end of the tunnel is appearing?
