Hi Pam,
I'm still feeling tired and having shortness of breath, too. I mentioned these symptoms to my doctor during a checkup a couple of weeks ago and suddenly found myself having a nuclear stress test last Friday, but my heart is fine, thank goodness! Maybe we will both feel better when the weather warms up and we can get outside more.

Take care,
Linda (age 53)

Pamisuze,
I'm sorry to hear you are having arthritis pain. I have arthritis in my spine and hips, and the cold weather is giving me trouble, too. Do you have a heated mattress pad? That really helps me - I have to keep my legs and hips toasty warm or they hurt. I hope the liquid glucosamine chondroitin helps you. Is the liquid supposed to work better than the tablets?
Everything worked out fine with my cardio appt. I had a nuclear stress test, which took all morning, but wasn't bad. Basically, I just had pictures of my heart taken before and after I walked on a treadmill. I found out yesterday that my heart looks like it's getting plenty of blood, so my tiredness and chest symptoms must be from something else or maybe I'm just slow to recover from my surgery.

Take care,
Linda

Linda, I'm so glad to hear your appointment went well and you have plenty of blood in your heart. I go to the Dr. about my legs on Friday, I do use a heated mattress pad also I agree that it really helps. I got the liquid because I have a problem getting absorption so we thought liquid couldn't hurt, we'll see. I am like you I thought I should be healing faster also. We will get there eventually you know what they say slow and steady wins the race. Thanks again, Pami

Hey sisters, glad to hear those heart checks came back normal. I am still having rapid heart rate and low iron, doc wants me to wear a halter monitor to record the weird blips from my heart, but I am getting suspicious that my iron is low because I'm bleeding somewhere in my GI system, maybe an ulcer, and the low iron is causing the weird heart rate, since my ekg was normal. I've had occasional burning in my tummy area on and off since surgery, and my gyn passed it off as just random pains we get there while recovering. But my GI system has been anything but normal since my hyst. I'll have to wait a couple more weeks to check my theory with my doc, maybe I just want it to be an ulcer so it will have a name and a course of treatment that could make these symptoms finally go away! I feel pretty good most of the time, since I am getting used to this rapid heart rate and jittery feeling. But normal, wouldn't that be great!? Take care sisters!

If you really think you are bleeding internally I think you should see your Dr sooner than a couple weeks. I hope you can get an answer soon. Please take care. Pami

Hello Ladies,

I'm so sorry to hear about the problems you are having, AGYAGY12! I've read that some women can have increased heart rate, high blood pressure, etc that can be difficult to control post hysterectomy. I hope you find some answers soon, this must be so scary for you! Hang in there, sweetie.

I haven't been here in awhile. I'm not doing as well as I was a few weeks ago. Emotionally, I'm a mess........I feel so depressed and tired. I look in the mirror and I feel like there is someone else looking back at me.......who's body is this anyway?

I started HRT in early December. At that time, I was feeling good overall. But I was having buring/pain during intercourse and my doctor did an exam and said I had early stages of vaginal atrophy, so she thought it would be a good idea for me to go ahead and start the HRT (which I was going to do a month later anyway). Other than that, I was having no other menopausal symptoms (other than night sweats, which I've had for years anyway)

I immediately felt more anxious and moody. I've since gained somewhere between 15 and 20 pounds. As someone who struggles with her weight to begin with, this is NOT GOOD! I've been working out, eating right, drinking lots of water. AND I'M STILL GAINING!! What the heck?

In addition, I've been VERY tired and unmotivated, and have trouble concentrating. After bawling my eyes out for an hour yesterday because I literally have two pairs of pants that fit me right now - - I called my doctor. She's out on "medical leave" so I have to see someone else. Geez - when it rains, it pours, huh?

I don't even know what they can do for me anyway, and I'd feel so much better if I could see MY doctor. I'm going in tomorrow and I'm scared.........what if this is the best I'm ever going to feel? I'm so frustrated.

Anyway, I'll stop complaining.........thanks for being here, as always.

Take care all, love reading your posts!

Christine~

I'm sooo sorry you are having problems now. I had hoped, as I hadn't seen any posts from you in a while, that you were feeling great. I remember you saying you were going skiing, and I had this vision in my head of you just swooshin' through your recovery...
As I kept my ovaries, I have no good advice regarding HRT, so I'll just say I'm sorry you are going through this. I have trouble with the moodiness, feeling very unmotivated, wanting to just withdraw from the world, and the scariest part is the loss of mental function. I am (or at least was at some point in my life) an intelligent person who finished college and has a BA. But please dont ask me to listen to someone speak 3-4 sentences now and have me summarize what they just said... can't do it. This is actaully dpressing me more than anything else.
Anyway, sorry to get off on a "me" tangent. Please know I will be thinking of you, and hope you get some answers today. Maybe a fresh set of eyes with the different doc will give a new perspective to what is going on.
Good luck, and please keep us posted... your posts have always inspired me, even when you were having a rough time you seem to keep an upbeat attitude.

BIG !!

Jane,

Thanks for the reply, you always know how to make me feel better.

I did go on my ski trip = and was able to ski 4 out of 6 days - not bad. I had to have the others go along without me one day as I just couldn't do it, I was so tired and sore. I feel more out of shape than I should! I sometimes feel sore in the morning, like I worked out hard, my muscles are sore and tired, even if I don't work out the day before! It's so weird and I'm so depressed. My stomach is freaking HUGE! I'm only 36 for crying out loud!

I have to MAKE - FORCE myself to do anything lately. My housework piles up until I just can't stand it anymore and then I try to clean it all at once. I'm forcing myself to work out at least 4x per week. Some days I'm so agitated because I REALLY don't feel like going to the gym. This is not like me.

I'm sorry to hear about your memory and/or concentration troubles. I don't remember if I've had any of those symptoms or not (ha ha).......pun intended!

Anyway, thanks again for the continued support. It really does help. I'll let you know how I do at the appointment tomorrow.........

Hang Tough!!

Christine

Ok, just got back from the doctors office. They took blood to test my thyroid.

They think the weight gain (and some of the other symptoms) could be from the prometrium and because I'm on the lowest dose, I can't take less, so I'm going to take one dose every other day instead of every day. They are replacing the Estradiol with Estratest. Anyone use that? Oh, and they also wrote a prescription for some Prozac! (I was taking it previously but stopped, so this is fine with me) And I really think I need it right now.

I go back in one month to see where I'm at and how I'm feeling and make more adjustments if necessary.

Its strange that I felt better BEFORE HRT than after. MOst of the symptoms should have happened before I had the HRT and become better with it. Not the case, exactly the opposite. So the next thing we might try is to cut down on the estrogen, but we're going to give this a try first.

I don't really care much for the "try it and see" approach when it comes to my health and well being but I guess I don't ahve any toher choice really. I just want to feel relatively normal, whatever that means.

PLUS the Estratest is supposed to increase Libido, which I am currently lacking - so DH is happy about this new prospect!! At least someone has some hope! Doesn't take much for men, does it? LOL.

Anywho - that's enough out of me! I'll check back soon, hope you're all doing well.

Hello ladies:
It has been awhile since I have been on as well. It's strange.......as I read through the posts there are many I can relate to. And I kept my ovaries. I've had a slight weight gain, but I chalk that up to my eating (I have an extreme urge to EAT) and lack of exercise. My motivation is low.....I do what I have to and no more than that. I feel pretty good (still sore around my incision) but notice I can't keep up like I used to.
Gosh, must we wait the full 6-12 months before feeling like we used to? I guess the positive is my bladder is relatively normal feeling. Yeah. One good thing - and of course not bleeding (practically) to death every month.
My prayers and thoughts go out to all of you.
Love,
C
