My hips hurt too, but they hurt before my surgery. I read somewhere where artificial sweetners can cause joint pain. I stopped using them and felt some relief for awhile. We are working on an addition on our house so right now I hurt everywhere. If you use them, it's worth a try to stop and see. Good luck.

Post - Hysterectomy dates Oct 15-Oct 22,2007 Hips and muscles and discharge... oh my!

Well hello all... if anyone is left! I'm just gonna post here and see who's around. I sure haven't been.

While I'm feeling generally fabulous after my LAVH/RSO almost 9 months ago, I have a couple of nagging problems that must be related. However, I'd never go back! The most nagging problem I have is a discharge, almost daily. It is white/cream colored, smells "normal" and I don't have any itching or anything. My doc's nurse said a discharge is normal since I have an ovary left, I'm still having a cycle, so the discharge mimics a period... ok, but like I said, it's a daily occurrence. I'm not that worried about it, will mention it when I see the doc for my annual in December. It irritated me that I had to break down and buy panitliners, tho...

Next, my lower abdomen is ... achy, all the time, to varying degrees. I am recovering from a pulled abdominal muscle, which can take weeks said my doc. Sometimes it is sharp acute pain that I have decided must be colon cancer... or adhesions... or... what?

Then my hips hurt... ouch! Arthritis? Ugh. I told my hubby that I just feel yucky sometimes, and really was looking forward to feeling better! Overall I do, but I'm wondering if these things are related to my hyst and if anything can be done about it. Can't believe it's been almost 9 months...

How's are y'all doing now?

I'm still here. However, it looks as though I will be having more surgery. Have been through the wringer the last 3 weeks. Went into the hospital with severe abdominal pain. They couldn't find exactly what it was but, did find some cyst on my ovary. I have had more blood test, ct scans and today I had an MRI. They are thinking maybe ovarian cancer or stomach or colon. I have a colonoscopy and endoscopy scheduled for Wednesday. I have seen the gynecological oncologist and go back to her on the 22nd to get the results of my MRI. Otherwise things have been going well for me.

I hope you continue to do well and all the little annoyances disappear.

Lori,
I'm sorry you need to have more surgery. I hope all your tests go well and you don't have cancer. Best of luck, and best wishes,

Thank you. I had my MRI yesterday but, won't know the results until the 22nd when I see the Dr. Tomorrow I am having an endoscopy and colonoscopy. I will know the results of that right away at least.

Princess Kipper,
My hips started hurting when I first started having premenopausal symptoms, about 8 years ago. According to my gyn, many women develop hip pain around the time they are menopausal, because of hormonal changes. One thing that can make your hips hurt is bursitis, which is an inflammation of the area around your hip joint - I'm currently in physical therapy for bursitis in my hips and sciatica (the back of my left leg keeps cramping). Did your hips hurt more in the winter? Mine sure did - my PT said that drops in barometric pressure, which happen a lot in cold, rainy weather, make bursitis worse.
I have the discharge, too, but I've had it since I was a teenager. It is less since my hyst, but it is still there, which I think is totally unfair!
I hope your pulled abdominal muscle feels better soon.

Take care,
Linda in KY

Re: Hysterectomy dates Oct 15-Oct 22,2007

I know we're two years out here - almost - and I wanted to tell you all that I'm feeling great! I also have had a good friend ask me for advice because she's going for her hysterectomy next month.

So I'm reading, reminiscing about my trip to the castle and wanting to be a good friend.

Hope you're all doing well and feeling fine.

Yep, almost 2 years out and it did take me awhile to get feeling better. I had pain with intercourse for over a year and then decided to go back to the doctor. I had an ablation (i think) some extra tissue where they made the vagianl cuff. They took it off, put me on the hormone patch, and then the vaginal ring and now am pain free.

I had a total hysterectomy with the ovaires gone. Got to keep the appendix.

Life is good.

Feeling well now. I did have to have a second surgery last yr to remove my ovaries and cervix. Still have night sweats though. Can't take hormose due to endo.

Great to see others are doing well.

Wow - great to hear from the sisters again. Didn't even realize I could still access my HysterSisters account. Was such a great support system at a very difficult time of my life. Glad to say life is back to normal now, but did take a long time to feel that way. My regret was not signing up prior to my surgery as I was so totally unprepared for how traumatic the surgery and recovery was. I've recommended this site to friends that have been contemplating the surgery as well. Great to keep in touch with you all!
