What are you looking forward to?

All of us have anxieties about our surgeries, but I've been trying to think about what I have to look forward to rather than what I'm freaked out about.

Here's my list so far:

1. No more LONG HEAVY periods (goodbye pads, tampons, stained sheets and clothes! Oh...and sex anytime of the month)

2. Resting for 6 whole weeks (being able to read, watch movies, work on hobbies, and surfing the net...sleeping whenever I want/need to)

3. Letting other people take care of me (and my family)

4. Good drugs

5. DH will be cooking and cleaning for at least 6 weeks.

6. Being able to celebrate Thanksgiving and my birthday BEFORE my surgery

7. Not having to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes anymore

8. Eating comfort food

9. Getting flowers from friends and family

10. Having an excuse not to deal with all the December holiday stress this year

What are you looking forward to?

Love your list!

Today has been a bad day for the flow. It wasn't bad today, but now that I'm at work, I'm running to catch it before everyone knows what's happening (I work with a bunch of guys). I'll at least be of the T-Day as well. I was supposed to work that day (my job is a 24/7 job).

We will have to make ourselves rest though. I get stir crazy.

What are you looking forward to?

OMG My birthday is also the day after my surgery!!! I love your list! I agree with all of them, except mine will be before Thanksgiving. My mom jokingly says not to think that will get me out of cooking the turkey! Thanks for helping me to see the positives! It is so easy to get consumed by not-so-positve thoughts and fears!

Love the List!!

I can soooooo relate to #1!!
Although my surgery is for different reasons, I think any woman would love not to have to deal w/ that!!

Another positive.... being part of the Hyster Sisters!!

It's nice to be able to chat with women who can relate in some way to all the emotions with this...

What are you looking forward to?

Great list! A great idea to look at the positive aspects. A biggie I wanted to add is:

Pain-free sex!! Will have a huge effect on marital happiness, I hope. lol

What are you looking forward to?

now remember -- you can not lift the turkeys to cook -- or to take them out of the oven -- add that to your list -- someone else gets to do that for you.

a list for the reasons is a great thing

some of mine were -- no longer walking like a penquin to keep from bleeding out --
no longer carrying extra clothes
rest from work ( that was an added bonus for 6 weeks off !!!)
no longer having to take out stock in kotex!!!!

Keep the list going -- it is wonderful

no more

What are you looking forward to?

It'll so great not to have to leave a play or a sporting event in the middle because I overflowed badly. I'm going to my first musical since my surgery this Sat and I will be able to stay for the whole show, without embarrassing myself. Really looking forward to that.

For that matter, not "checking" the chair every time I stand up is wonderful.

Next week, I am going on my first out-of-town mini vacation and I'll be so glad not to stain the hotel sheets.

What are you looking forward to?

Sleep. I look forward to sleep. I can't wait to sleep more than two hours before I woken up by pain or a need to go to the bathroom.

I look forward to waking in the morning and just languishing in bed, not having to immediately run to the bathroom.

I'm planning on using the money I don't have to spend on tampons and copious amounts of toilet paper as the down payment on a new car.
