vaginal cuff not healing

Well, I took an entire month off from work, just now started my walking/weights routine again, and have had NO sex of any variety since the surgery. I haven't even ridden my horse. So I've taken it as slowly as anyone could, I think.

I meant, it seems like it would take a lot of pressure to open up the vaginal cuff. If it can be opened easily, even with gentle intercourse, that is a scary prospect.

Hi,
Like Wendy, this is starting to scare me. My surgery (LAVH w/BOS) was only three weeks ago, so sex hasn't been an issue yet. However, I am also a slow healer. Are problems with the cuff common? I feel so sorry for those of you having such problems & I hope you will soon be healed.

I think this thread is scary to any of us who are in the early healing stages. I am so sorry to hear that so many are having troubles. Please follow the doctor's orders to the "t" and hopefully your recovery will be complete even if it takes longer to get there.

(((ladies)))
It's true, this type of thing can happen, but it doesn't happen to the vast majority of women. Please don't allow fear to cause you undo worry and concern. This is why you have a dr watching your recovery and making sure you heal up like you need to. If there is a problem with slow healing estrogen cream is often prescribed and it really is amazing how well it can help that tissue to heal up.

I do think it's good for all of us to see that it is possible to be quite a few weeks out from surgery(even 6 wks) and still not be healed. Way too many women take a carefree view of recovery and the dangers of doing things before they are released by their drs. With this thread though I don't want to see you become too frightened over this possibility. Talk to your drs and be sure to express your concerns to them so you can receive the help and reassurance that your body is doing what you need it to do. You will heal according to your body's schedule. Listen to what it is telling you and don't push past those limits. Take each experience and learn from it, but don't let fear cause you needless worry.

Now I am concerned as well - I will be 4 weeks post op this Tuesday.
At my 2 weeks post op visit my doctor said that I am healing well, and he doesn't need to see me till my annual in July, unless there is a problem. I have seen stitches coming out for 10 days now (approx. one a day).
How will I know that I am sufficiently healed? My cuff has been done vertically.

Please try not to worry too much. I had many outside reasons why my cuff tore open. Not just the sex part. Which by the way was more like as soon as it was in it happened. Anyway... First I had a radical hyst which means the top 1/3 of my vagina was removed also. Thus making it harder to heal. Second I have Lupus and other autoimmune diseases which make my immune system and such completely useless sometimes. I am also on other meds that make me not heal well. I am a very slow healer, but I didn't realize it until it was too late. Please do not worry because of a few people who are like me. If your doctor thinks you are healing well then you are healing well. There are people who are all healed up and given the ok before 4 weeks. Everyone is different. Please just follow your doctors advice.
